We stayed here 2 nights in October 2006 for a visit to the Whitsunday Islands. We arrived late on the train from Cairns but couldn't have been made more welcome. Peter switched the pool lights on so we could have a refreshing swim before falling into our beds. The breakfast the next morning was just amazing, both for the quality of the food and of the service. The bird life was very entertaining too.
Peter had even booked a day trip for us to the Whitsundays and the operator (Whitehaven Xpress) he recommended was very good indeed.
Referring to previous comments, yes, there was some road noise from below but we weren't bothered by it when we were there, i.e. early morning and late afternoon/evening. And the views, sunsets and sunrises, over the harbour and the islands more than made up for it. Absolutely stunning! And so what if there were few leaves and buds in the pool, it was delightful and refreshing.
All in all, one of the top places we stayed in during our 6 week tour of Oz.

The Whitsunday Moorings Bed and Breakfast was by far one of the greatest places that my husband and I have ever stayed. The property sits atop a hill with spectacular views of the Marina. The interior was very inviting and well kept. Starched linens, a spacious sitting area, and a spotless kitchen and bathroom made our stay very comfortable. Laundry facilities were available as well. Breakfast was absolutely incredible and provided a great start to our day. Every morning, breakfast was made to order and served outside, with not only an incredible view of the Marina, but with the feeding of beautiful lorikeets. Peter was very helpful in making our stay perfect. We felt like royalty! He provided guidance on our day trips: Whitehaven Beach and Great Barrier Reef, and even booked our trips for us. We couldn't have been happier with our stay, and would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast destination to other travelers.

My partner and I stayed here for 7 nights over Christmas. This place surpassed any other 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in. I was treated like a queen in Paradise! The photographs on the internet do not do this place justice. The room was large and spotlessly clean. There was every amenity we could possibly need, including full use of washer and dryer which really helped us minimise our luggage needs. Every morning we would open our curtains to a spectacular view, a flawless table setting and a breakfast so beautifully arranged you didn't want to eat it. Fortunately I did, as the omelettes were the best I have ever had, a genius of a chef that I would have put in my suitcase had the owner been willing to give him up. I cannot say enough about this place, I usually don't visit a place twice but I will be going back here for sure. Be sure to ask Peter about the fabulous cruises too. He arranged all our trips and they were all wonderful! I will add some of the photos I took if I can to give you an idea. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Whitsunday Moorings is a little gem of a place in the (mainly)backpacker resort of Airlie Beach.
It's situated about 500m out of town, up a reasonably steep hill (hence the great views).
Its a lovely quiet location (I don't understand the previous comments about the traffic noise-We rarely heard any).

The rooms are large and comfortable with full air conditioning, and are serviced daily, so exceptionally clean. Towels and fluffy dressing gowns are provided and a useful laundry facility is available.

Coffee, tea (Twinings) and sugar are available in the room and a jug of fresh milk is provided daily.

The main attractions would have to be the views, the EXCEPTIONAL breakfasts, and a fantastic welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and Peter used his local knowledge to guide us on making the most of our week in the Whitsundays.

Top Tips for Days out would be:

Whitehaven Beach- however you get there..
Cruise Whitsundays to the Great barrier Reef for snorkelling
A Helicopter Trip over the islands or Heart Reef.

We would definitely go back- excellent value for money all round!

We stayed here for a couple of nights, and were a bit disappointed really. The breakfast was really good, and the rooms were fine. What spoilt it for us was the fact the B and B is on a hill perched above the main road, and the noise of the traffic was at times relentless.
The pool was disappointing in that it wasn't cleared of leaves and other debris whilst we stayed there.

The lagoon at Airlie Beach is excellent - well worth the visit.

My wife and I stayed at the Whitsunday Moorings for 4 nights whilst staying in Airlie Beach, and it was the highlight of our 4 month trip!!

Peter, the owner and host, has really payed attention to the finer details, and in so doing has created a unique atmosphere and surroundings which is like nothing else we have experienced.

From the 5 course breakfast, served with beautiful views of Airlie beach and harbour, to the wonderful room we had, and of course Peter himself who was a wonderful host.

We can't praise this place enough, and judging by the succession of similarly praising comments in the guest book, neither can anyone else who's had the pleasure of staying there.

It was a great base for us to explore the Whitsundays, and Peter was on hand to offer excellent advice on any trips we wanted to take.
