“Fantastic boat, great crew, delicious food, esky full of cold cold beers!”

If you do nothing else whilst you are at Airlie Beach, do this day trip. Read the above, why wouldn`t you go on the Derwent Hunter?
The crew really do their utmost to ensure that you have a good time.the snorkelling is on some very beautiful parts of the Reef and is unhurried. Dave, the Captain even did the washing up after the beautiful lunch, and Jess, one of the deckhands has a great sense of humour.
You would be hard put to improve on this experience!

“Great day for the whole family”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

My family and I had a great day out with the Derwent Hunter crew. Unfortunately there was not much wind on the day we went but this did not ruin what was a really enjoyable day. The snorkelling and food were great and crew were great fun. It really was a top day for all the family.

“Awesome day out snorkelling with a turtle”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

From start to finish this is a professionally organised day out with loads of fun thrown in.
Departing from the Port of Airlie just near the YHA was a few minute walk so very handy for us.
Staff were exceptionally friendly and catered for all passenger needs. There was a mix of backpackers, families and couples on this trip so everyone felt welcome. Lunch was delicious and they also served morning and afternoon tea. Highlight for me was snorkeling side by side a gorgeous turtle for about 5 minutes. To me that is bliss! Would recommend and do again.
thanks to the crew for a great day out.

“Great day out! Amazing Crew & Captain!”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

We did a day trip with on the Derwent Hunter, it was amazing. The crew on board were so friendly, cheerful and informative. Taking you to 2 different snorkelling locations off of the Whitsundays. Within the price of the day trip, you get morning and afternoon snacks and food, & drinks also.
Definitely very good value for money, I recommend this to anyone staying in Airlie Beach if you are pushed for time to travel to the Whitsundays then do this Boat trip!

“Brilliant, professional staff”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

This review will be mostly about the staff. As an ex outdoor giude, I can say with some experience that the professionalism and attitude of the staff was without peer. From the very beginning of the trip, they created an atmosphere amongst the guests that made the entire trip something I shall never forget.
The crew fostered an inclusive atmosphere, without any hint of pressure. They gave talks on the history of the vessel, the management of the reef, including their role, the history of the islands and were always ready for just having a chat.
The food was simple, but had something for everyone, was plentiful (no one went hungry!) and had some care put into it. (I'm sorry I can't remember your name, but mate the pasta salad was seriously great!.)
The boat itself is piece of living history, and as time goes by will only get more beautiful due to the ongoing project to restore it to its original Huon Pine decking.
The safety of the passengers was obviously paramount in their minds, but it would have taken a trained eye to notice how well they managed the group.
If you are simply after the best coral at the reef, this might not be the best trip for you, but if you want a day out to meet new people, learn about the area, or just chill out on the deck of a genuine sailing ship, then I can't recommend it enough.
