We booked this cruise simply becuae we got a 3 Island deal for a discounted price of $120...
Whilst waiting at our apartment for the complimentary shuttle bus to arrive to take us to Shute Harbour the rival company "Whitsunday Cruises" bus turned up looking for 2 passengers. The bus driver assumed we were his 2 passengers and was so rude and abrupt that we were glad not to be going with this company. Less than one minute the 2 passengers he was looking for turned up and we had to tell them that their bus had left without them...I daresay they would have been peeeved...
Voyager cruises is now operated by Reef Cruises and we had afabulous time.
Everything was so well organised and safety and concern for the passengers was the crews main priority.
We went to Whitehaven first due to the tide and to avoid the scorching heat, they provided clean stinger suits as it is the season for stingers.... all of which was explained in detail.
Passengers were tendered across to the island by dingy which was fun.
On returning to the ship a buffet lunch was served of salads, cold selection of meats, and bread.
Whilst having lunch we cruised leisurely to Hook Island where a glass bottom boat was waiting to pick us up to take us to the reef.
Due to the recent cyclone in North Queensland the water was a bit mirky and cloudy so the reef wasn't at it's best. The crew made no apologies for this, and why should they? can't help mother nature..
We were then tendered to Hook Island where those that wished to do so could snorkel or swim, others strolled on the sand or just relaxed on the beach.
Again when we returned to the boat a buffet of fresh fruit, cheese, biscuits, cakes, was awaiting for us. Complimentary tea, coffee and iced water is available all day. The bar is open for beverages.
The next Island was Daydream..... what a dump.....one of the many swimming pools was full of hotel guests drinking cans of beer and and beahving like slobs...not a good impression. Fortunately we found a quieter pool to have a swim. Daydream Island is tired and looks shabby.
We returned to Shute harbour to find our bus waiting for us and we were back in our apartment by 6pm.
I didn't hear one negative comment from other passengers, and we were glad we chose this option.
For visitors to Airlie Beach I highly recommend this trip....www.wiac.com.au or 07 4946 5255
