Got the tuna on the hot rock and was disappointed... hardly any greens, very bland. Not worth the money.

“Great food and ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2011

I'm based in Mackay and eat here regularly when in Airlie for work. The quality of the food is always superb and the menu options are always changing, but luckily all of the old favourites are available. I thoroughly recommend the Gnocchi and the Indian Chicken Tikka Masala curry. Pricewise the meals represent great value, and service is always very attentive. Music selection is generally to my taste and I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the al fresco outside dining area.

“Great food, free wifi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2011

we ate here both mornings we were in airlie beach and found it hard to fault. Service was good, staff friendly and helpful-we sat for 3 hours on the second day waiting to go to the airport without any complaints, in fact the staff continued to bring us bottles of water until we left. Money wise it was pretty much par for the course and the quality and quantity of food was very good. The free wifi was an added bonus. We were speaking to the owner as she was considering making a facebook page for the cafe and was wondering if we used it and thought it was a good idea, she seemed like a really nice lady and even more so when she gave us free cookies for our feedback and advice. Would highly recommend this cafe:)

“Can it get any better? + child friendly!”

IT WAS SIMPLY DEVINE! it had ranges of food, from simple sandwiches to extravagent large meals! eveything was ddelicious and tasty. The big Breakie was awesome! it was gigantic! with piles of hash browns, a billion rashes of bacon, massive eggs, and huge serving of baked beans, heaps of toast and so much more, there was so much food to choose from, all of it was amazing! it was also perfect for kids, they had colouring books, simple reading books, crayons, pens, paper, and heaps of stuff to keep the little ones busy! They also have great, healthy kids meals, with massive sizes to fill any hungry little fella up! it was great!

“What a unique dinner experience for a very affordable price!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2011

We work on the island and it’s our routine to go the Village Café on the main land on our day off as our treat. The food and service are always good.
Last week, we stayed overnight in town for our mate’s birthday and went to the café for dinner. We all had the Hot Rock (similar to the Japanese stone grilled). Couldn’t believe how big our rump steak was, well it did say 400g on the menu but it was only $19. The steak was tender & juicy. Fantastic value!
The hot rock was a great idea, we were a bit sceptical to start with (none of us have had this before), we all had our own piece of volcanic stone on a custom made plater. The rock was piping hot, the steak was seared and we finished it the way we like it on the rock and the rock stays hot all the way.
Being a local and work in tourism industry, it’s good to know there is somewhere good & unique that we could recommend to the visitors!
