This Italian restaurant located at Abel point marina is a hidden gem, fantastic water views great friendly staff and the meals were the best we had in Airlie came back two nights in a row. I recommend the chicken breast stuffed with Brie and prawns with risotto and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto . Delicious !

Went here with my partner recently. Found the girl who greeted us quite abrupt, and sent us upstairs. We were seated and given water glasses but no water. A minute passed and we were asked were we ready, we had barely selected a drink to start. No music upstairs but caught the music from downstairs didn't really go with restaurant vibe. Fortunately food out weighed all else. Garlic prawns for entree, great portion size, flavour, everything. Entrees not cleared by the time mains arrived. Chicken breast, beautifully cooked- pancetta wrapped asparagus just topped it off. Veal beautifully cooked great portion sizes. Opted out of dessert however as staff were a bit short and lacked in smiles. Go for the food don't expect great service. Will return in the hopes staff were just having an off day

Varied menu and started with a pizza with garlic, rosemary and mozzarella, which was excellent and $15. I chose fish of the day which was grilled snapper with spinach and mash and it was very tasty and good value for money at $25. Had a got bottle of NZ Pinot Noir. The service was good.

.
A little bit off the beaten tourist trail, 'Sorrento's' is arguably the best bar in Airlie Beach to watch the sun go down. Located in the old Abel Point Marina complex, its two levels (upstairs restaurant, downstairs bar) overlook yachts in the marina, and to the west & north of Airlie Bay. Inhabited by lots of personable characters off cruising yachts, young dockyard labourers and other marine-oriented salt-encrusted individuals, the bar can get quiet busy. Upstairs is often very quiet, despite the excellent food and wine. Parking is a problem – there just isn't any ! But most locals going there for several 'sun-downers' and a meal, go by taxi - it is safer and more relaxing. Of course the yachties just stagger back to their boats – 'Sorrentos' has that effect on people
