We joined this half day trip at Hamilton Island, which is the last pick up and first drop off at the end of the day, a great advantage.
It was pretty choppy and the staff were looking out carefully for anyone showing signs of suffering. Great staff.
Whitehaven beach is beautiful, the way the sand feels under your feet is incredible, never walked on sand like it. We went swimming and snorkelling but didn't see much underwater life. Afterwards we were just happy to sit on the beach and watch the world go by. Although it was sunny it was quite cool just sitting, being winter. Didn't feel rushed at all, a half day was enough to experience the beach and cross it off your bucket list.
Warm drinks and scones were very welcome on the way back to Hamilton Island.

We are staff on Hamilton Island and not once have we been disappointed with CW today was the best by far as the Captain slowed down so we could see whales but didn't get to close that they would be stressed.

thanks Captain

Day trip (3 hour ferry ride) to The Great Barrier Reef. I would do it again in a "Heart Beat"! Such a wonderful day. We didn't plan on SCUBA Diving but couldn't resist when we got there! The Staff were ALL GREAT! Love them all. We had a rough ride but they took care of ALL of the passengers needs. Hope to visit again soon.

The Great Barrier Reef Adventure was definitely the highlight of our vacation in the Whitsundays. It does take 2ish hours to ferry from Hamilton Island out to the reef, but it's a great opportunity to kick back and enjoy the island and ocean scenery. We even were lucky enough to sight a few humpback whales! The crew also uses that time to teach passengers a bit about snorkeling and diving. They were all very lovely and friendly people. I did feel a bit pressured by some of them to commit to the very expensive diving and massage activities. I try to overlook those kinds of things, only because I am sure they are even more pressured by their superiors to push those kinds of things. They weren't overbearing; I just didn't like having to tell 5 different people that I didn't want to go diving.

Once we arrived at Reef World, we decided to snorkel before the crew served lunch. It was definitely one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life. The coral and the fish are beautiful, and the fish don't hesitate to swim right in front of your face. My husband isn't a very adept swimmer, but the snorkeling was set up in a way that even he got to take part, as there are ropes and safe areas for less confident or tired swimmers. The snorkeling gear is free to use.

The lunch was delicious, although it would have been nice to have something warm to eat on that breezy afternoon. I am unsure if the boat has the facilities to provide guests with that option. One disappointing thing was the premium for soft drinks. Being as the tour costs a whopping $225 per person, I figured at least non-alcoholic beverages would be included on the tour. Nope. I really feel those should have been free of charge.

After lunch, we did the semi-submersive submarine ride, which was very enjoyable. We did it a couple times in hopes of seeing a turtle, but didn't have any luck (although it is apparently very common to see them). The coral and fish were lovely, though, and a crew member explains and differentiates the types of each along the way.

On the ride back to Hamilton Island, a slideshow of the pictures the photographers take is displayed on the televisions. We decided to only purchase the photo of us snorkeling together, since there was no way we would have been able to have the photo otherwise. Take any other pictures yourself, if possible, as the photos for purchase are (like everything else in the Whitsundays) on the expensive side.

Overall, the trip was a delight. The crew and other guests were amiable, and the reef itself is gorgeous. We would definitely do this day trip again if we make it out to the Whitsundays in the future.

Very disappointed with this cruise: few fish when not little and colourless, grey coral when not dead or sad and dull. All the cruise is a run as first you lose time (min. 1h) to go to Hamilton Island search and disembark people. I did not pay for taxi !
On the pontoon, you will stay 3 hours to make all the activities written and lunch but in the fact you don't have enough time to do all if you want snorkelling in relaxed condition. Buffet lunch was good nothing more.Very expensive day to make taxi and see very few of the reef.
We booked with this company a half day cruise to Whitehaven beach but was cancelled the same day due to engine failure or too much waves (we will never know !) without any alternative to offer for the next day. We saw other company doing their cruise to Withehaven beach that same day ! Who to believe and how to trust after this.
