If you are in Queensland there is no better way to visit the Great Barrier Reef. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the boat is pristine and comfortable, the facilities excellent. Reefworld itself is merely a base for all kind of amazing activities.

We took a half-day cruise to Whitehaven Beach from Hamilton Island and really enjoyed it. The crew was very nice, and the boat was perfect for the short journey. The captain even went out of his way to give everyone an extra treat when he started spotting multiple Humpback Whales around! I wish we had had more time on Whitehaven Beach, but that's the only "complaint" I have. They also offer full day cruises, so that solves that problem! I felt the price was also really good for the experience.

Wanted to do a cruise round the Whitsundays and this tour fitted the bill. Enthusiastic staff who were not too over the top. Great stopover on Whitehaven Beach followed by BBQ on Camira. Not too crowded the vessel takes about 100max.

Was recommended this by travel agent-beach great. 'Cruise' is a ferry where you are captured with about 150 other tourists. Not personal, no informative commentary just soundbites & far too crowded. Had only an hour on the beach as everyone is tendered from the boat to the beach in groups of 30. If you want to see the beach as it looks in all the photos you need to do the hill inlet walk but no time on half day tour. Book a smaller boat out to the beach if you can.

We have just come back from 6 nights on Hamilton Island and booked two cruises with Cruise Whitsundays.
The first one was a half day to Whitehaven Beach and we quite enjoyed this one. The weather was sunny and we had a very nice boat ride to the beach. The staff are very friendly and informative and couldn't be faulted all day. We had a couple of hours on the beautiful white sand beach and just lazed around, went for a small walk and had a swim. On the way back we had a very nice afternoon tea of warm scones, there was butter and jam and the awful cream in a can, this artificial cream is a disgrace, how had is it to have fresh cream!! There was also fresh fruit. Instant coffee is also not good, freshly brewed would have been far nicer.
The ride back was very enjoyable, the boat is very comfortable.
Our next cruise was two days later to Reef World, we were looking forward to this as we had friends recommend it and it sounded great.
Again the boat was large and very comfortable with a lot of crew, as first I thought this was over kill for the number of people on board. The captain made an announcement that if you thought you might get sea sick to sit downstairs and take some medication that was for sale at the small bar area on board, a lot of people did this, but a lot also did not, and all had to push and shove and sit upstairs, it was packed. We get half way to reef world and people are vomiting everywhere, now I understand why they have so many crew, the poor things were running around franticly with sick bags and ice just about all the way to the pontoon.
Once we go there we had a look at the reef in the glass bottom boat and in the observation area at the end of the pontoon. Both these were very good. The snorkeling was great, but the wind was very chilly once we got out of the water. Lots of people did the diving option and helicopter rides.
Now lunch was served at about 12 to 2 o'clock and was great, lots of great salads, chicken, ham and prawns. People loose all common sense when food is prepaid, the same people who were sick in the morning were piling up their plates with everything they possibly could fit on them, and guess what, they were all vomiting and actually groaning on the way back to Hamilton Island. It was a horrendous ride back. I felt so sorry for the crew and at one stage they had to physically drag a man out to the back of the boat to get him in the fresh air. I think hundreds of sick bags were used that day.
Please for the comfort of all passengers if you think you may get sea sick give this cruise a miss.
I can't recommend the cruise to Reef World but Whitehaven Beach was beautiful.
