“Great Place for a relaxing holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

Palm Cove is a small beach resort town about 20 minutes drive north of Cairns.
We had a one bedroom spa apartment on level 2. The room was well equipped with all that we needed in the kitchen and laundry. We enjoyed our breakfast at the large balcony overlooking the pool and manicured gardens. The bedroom had a comfortably hard king size bed. The lounge area had a dining table, one couch and a TV. We drove to Palm Cove - so it was nice to be able to use the undercover parking.

Mantra Amphora is centrally located on the beach front.
Palm Cove has a large selection of restaurants and coffee shops all within a short stroll from the resort.

Our stay at the Mantra was very relaxing,we upgraded our room so we could have a small kitchen & lounge with laundry , this worked out to be very good.
The views from our room were also good, we overlooked the pool & the proximity to the main st & restuarants was great !

Located in a fantastic place, Palm Cove. Had a single room on level three overlooking the pool and beautiful gardens. Enjoyed many hours either on the balcony or relaxing by the pool. Lots of places to eat an enjoy a coffee. Staff were very helpful and always greeted with a smile. The unit below us were smokers and the smoke drifted up into our room, a little upsetting. They also had a dog and a cat, sometimes the dog barked late at night. Not sure why dogs and cats are permitted in the resort. The resort also has a problem with walk ins (not guests) to the pool and garden area. This didn't cause any problems with our stay. I would recommend the resort for a relaxing holiday.

Dear Gary B,

Thank you for your review.

Guests are permitted to smoke only on their balconies. We apologise that you were affected by this in this particular instance.

As the resort - and more specifically, the pool area - is directly linked to the main road, it is difficult to curb members of the public entering the resort through our pool gates. It is something that is often looked at by management and our work to reduce this is ongoing.

We hope to welcome you back to the resort in the near future.

Kind Regards,

General Manager

We had interconnecting room and as a 2 bedroom apartment it was huge. View of the beach was good, not outstanding from 624 but good. Pool was great and overall nothing negative to report. Right in the centre of everything.

We weren't sure whether to stay in Palm Cove or Port Douglas when we booked this trip but we were so pleased we chose the Mantra at Palm cove. Our one bedroom apartment with an ocean view was incredibly spacious with a view I could live with permanently! The decor was a little outdated, my husband and I kept joking about going out to buy a can of paint to cover up the horrendous blue feature wall in the lounge. The furniture was comfortable however and the king size bed had a really nice thick topper on it, which we were very happy with. The wonderful , huge covered balcony more than made up for any decor issues anyway.
The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could need, including a large fridge, oven, stove top, microwave and dishwasher, also enough cutlery and crockery so that you needn't hand wash any of it.
The bathroom was a good size and not too outdated. We both enjoyed the large shower with fantastic water pressure.
A few annoying things would include the fact that the only address we were given for this accommodation was Williams Esplanade but if you need to find reception when arriving by car you need to enter via Amphora street. We ended up parking on Williams Esplanade and wandering around for a while until we found a couple who kindly took us through the property to reception as there is no signage that we could find from the front of the property. I checked all of my correspondence with the resort and the website and nowhere does it mention Amphora street. Lucky we arrived before it was very late at night. One other minor issue, paying to use a hotel safe - really?? We have travelled to many places around the world and have never had to pay to use a room safe before even in budget hotels. Australia is also very behind when it comes to free wi fi in hotels, but hopefully we'll catch up to the rest of the world one day.
Overall though would recommend this place to everyone, especially if your budget will extend to a one bedroom ocean view, although I guess that should be 'shoreline view' through the palms!!

We stayed for 5 nights in late May. We booked a two bedroom lagoon view, which was upgraded upon check-in to an ocean view. This was neither here nor there to me as I knew it was an overbooking issue but my husband loved sitting on the front verandah and watching the sea. They also gave us a ground floor which I was happy with as I'm heavily pregnant and we have a 3.5 year old. The 2 bedroom was a 1 bedroom apartment + hotel room dual keyed, which initially concerned me as I've seen dual keyed rooms that I wouldn't have been suitable for a family due to heavy doors or distance between bedrooms, particularly with small children. This was fine, however. The apartment was a good standard. I booked the eco rate with no room servicing for the duration of our stay. As I was aware these are privately owned and rented out of a pool, I didn't have an unrealistic expectation of finish. There were some small marks and stains, some of the bath fixtures were a bit wobbly but the kind of wear and tear you'd expect. Bedding and bathrooms were clean, which was of greatest importance to me. Location within Palm Cove was fantastic. Absolutely top spot. Vivo Cafe/Restaurant out the front was wonderful also. We would definitely stay again. We're also very glad we chose Palm Cove over Cairns/Trinity Beach/Port Douglas.

Room Tip: Apartment 613 was ground floor ocean view. Great location.

Our one bedroom apartment was more than adequate. I had researched accommodation around our needs and settled on the Mantra. We were pleasantly surprised on our apartment and location. We had a view of the pool which is always relaxing to look at. The apartment had everything we needed, washing machine, dryer, cooking appliances, blow dryer, washing powder and detergent, enough for a couple of days. The interior was modern and minimalistic, which did not have a cluttered feel about it. The king bed had a good quality topper and the pillows were also of good quality guaranteeing a great sleep. The toilet was separate to the bathroom which is always a good idea. Small soaps shampoos and conditioner were supplied for a single use. The midweek clean replenished this.
We were on the second floor. This apartment resort only has stairs which we were aware of before booking. We did not have a problem with this. Though you should request a ground floor unit if you have problems with stairs.
The pool was amazing. The pool cleaner was there every morning early so the pool was always fresh and clean. Sun lounges and umbrellas were provided and also complimentary towels. If you want to be self sufficient and value your privacy then this place is perfect for you.
