We spent 4 nights at the Mantra Amphora in September 2011 and overall it was an enjoyable stay. However we did notice room for a few improvements which could be considered by management: on entering our room we spotted a dead cockroach, and also there were a few ants crawling on the refrigerator door. However it is tropical North Queensland we're talking about, I imagine it would be pretty hard to prevent every bug from ever entering a room. Still, perhaps the rooms could be inspected by a cleaner before guests check-in. We stayed in a hotel-style room which was quite spacious, with a lovely bathroom and spa bath. We did find the bed to be quite firm and a little uncomfortable to sleep on. The television could really use updating to a flatscreen, as most hotels in this price category have already done. There are in-house movies, but we couldn't find a price guide for them anywhere, however we opted to watch one anyway, but for $17 it's really not worth watching them on the old style television sets they have - the quality was very poor.
That being said, our stay was mostly very enjoyable. The staff at the front desk were courteous and extremely helpful, the pool is just gorgeous, and the town itself is very relaxed and easy to navigate. We'd definitely return to Palm Cove & Mantra Amphora.More
