Got to be on time for this great night at the zoo. As soon as the doors open you are ushered in a hurry and seated on picnic style seating in a covered outdoor area. Drinks are served immediately, service is outstanding and with a BIG smile. No sooner have the drinks been served (choice of wine, beer, soft drink or juice - several drinks allowed) that the food appears and everyone is lined up ready to collect dinner. The meal consists of roast meat, beef and chicken, roast vegies and salads. Whilst the meal is nothing to write about, it satisfies the belly! Dinner is quickly followed by dessert, several choices, nothing spectacular but nonetheless satisfying. During dinner we are serenaded with several Australian ballads by a solo guitar player/singer.

We then move on to the 'show and tell' in the zoo. We are handed small torches and head over to the crocodile enclosure to encounter crocodiles and watch their activities in the dead of night. Our night was cold so the crocodiles were very docile and uninterested in eating preferring to smile and ignore the food on offer. The crocodile enclosure is followed by a short tour around other areas of the zoo including a cuddle with koala.

We head over to another covered open air building, where more drinks are served, again, wine, beer, soft drinks and juice. Now it is time for Australian song and dance. What a hoot! It is well organised, the staff are well skilled in encouraging participation and in no time at all everyone is up and dancing. Our group of people, 17 Caribbean sports administrators are singing and dancing in no time and loving every minute of it.

To finish off the night we head over to a small outdoor fire where we are greeted with warm damper and a cup of billy tea.

AWESOME Night! Lots of fun, well organised, interesting, interactive, unique and pretty good value for money. Also brilliant staff who join in and encourage patrons to get involved. Definitely worth a visit.

If you are in the Cairns area this is a must see. My husband and I had so much fun here. The crowd consisted of a couple of families with kids, a tour group, and a few other couples. Maybe 20-25 people plus staff. Very personal setting. The ticket includes bbq dinner (not the beat food but edible), unlimited drinks, and a very exclusive and educational hands on tour of the nocturnal animals in the Cairns Zoo. You got to hold Koalas, pythons, and feed Kangaroos. You also got to view the feeding of the 2nd largest crocodile in the world which was amazing. The end of the night consisted of dancing and more drinks. Loved it! Highly recommend!

Its not very often you get the opportunity to cuddle a Koala and feed a kangaroo – the night zoo provides up-close encounters with these and several other animals. The whole evening was good fun as you are in a relatively small group and shown around by very knowledgeable staff – it almost feels like a private after hours visit. You to see all the animal highlights of the zoo plus some decent food and my 4 year old son absolutely loved the sing-along afterwards. Cant recommend highly enough – this was a really fun evening…

The best night out. Food was fantastic and the staff were attentive and passionate about the night critters. The whole night was entertaining and faultless. We got to meet all sorts such as crocodiles, a cockatoo, wombat, bandicoot, koalas, snakes, kangaroos and so much more. It was an all Aussie experience from the native animals to the bush BBQ to the songs and dancing. A must do.
