Our group of 2 adults and 2 teenagers stayed in a 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom apartment. It was very spacious and had a well equipped kitchen. However there was minimal bench space and no space at all to store the food that we bought.

The shower in the main bathroom was over a bath that was high and deep so hard to access and lacked a curtain so water sprayed all over the floor.

The beds were very comfortable but the curtains were sheer and let in both daylight and the night lighting outside or room.

The lighting in the apartment was so bad that we could not see the food on the table at dinner time or read inside the apartment - we had to ask for lamps to go beside the beds and removed the light shades so that we could see.

A BBQ was provided for the use of guests but did not work properly and despite daily requests to the staff, was not fixed satisfactorily.

We were promised a downstairs apartment but upon checkin [after hours] discovered that we had been allocated an upstairs apartment. Next day we had to wait until the afternoon to move to a downstairs apartment which wasted the first day of our holiday. Downstairs apartments have doors which open onto an outdoor area and the pools whereas upstairs have no balcony and are dark and to be avoided. We would have appreciated a couple of chairs in the outside courtyard area.

On the plus side, the pools are fantastic and the gardens are beautiful thought there was limited seating in the pool area. It is only a short walk to the beach and Palm Cove. There is a good supermarket about 2 km away. It is worth hiring a car to do day trips around the area. Do not miss a trip to the reef - it is worth every cent.

I stayed here with my husband and 5 month old baby in late August. I decided to booked a 2 bedroom apartment as I wasn't sure what the interior layout would be and where it would be suitable to place a cot and didn't want her sleeping in our room. I was glad we booked the two bedroom, as the apartment is very open and spacious and there wasn't really anywhere to place a cot and be quiet.

Our apartment was downstairs and had a large lounge area with adjacent kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. There was also tea and coffee facilites. A large dining table to seat 6, with louvered bifold doors that opened onto our own small courtyard. There was a gate that opened onto the 50m lap pool. The main bedroom was huge with adjacent bathroom with built in laundry facilities, washer and dryer. The room our daughter stayed in had two single beds which we moved to the side to fit the cot and also a bathroom. This place is bigger than our house. The only complaint I would have is that the lighting is really not great.

It was so quiet and I think it is the best sleep I have ever had whilst being away on holidays. The only thing that woke me each night was the sprinkler system starting for the garden and then my daughter at 6am!!!

There are 4 pools at Mango Lagoon, the largest being the 50m lap pool. There was a small pool we took our daughter to, that had a little sandy beach. The resort has beautiful tropical gardens and looks up to the mountain range. It really is a relaxing oasis.

The reception staff were incredibly friendly and only too willing to help out. There is internet facility in reception should you require for a fee.

Through the back gate of the resort you can walk to the beach. We got lost the first time, but when you come out the gate, just walk straight ahead to a small pedestrian path cutting through some houses and then you're almost at the beach.

The restaurants are very good, but not cheap, so if you have kids use the inhouse cooking facilities. Shop at Coles if you can as the small supermarkets in town have highly inflated prices. It would be cheaper to get a taxi to Coles and you would still save.

Overall, we loved Palm Cove and loved the fact that we could walk everywhere into town with the pram and that it wasn't busy with people everywhere. I can highly recommend the Mango Lagoon and would definitely stay there again.

This is one of the best value hotels I have ever stayed at. I give the property full credit for this.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite. It was spacious- very spacious. All equipment was new.

To make the room interesting, they have made a hole in the bathroom- bedroom wall. However, this also meant water will splash into the bedroom when you take a shower.

I did not use the pool but it looked nicer on their website. The areas around the pool was somewhat cramped.

Overall, it was a nice experience and very good value. I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you are not going spend much time in your room.

I stayed at the Mango Lagoon Resort for 3 nights in June 2008. I was in a 1 bedroom spa suite and paid only $110 a night (pretty amazing).

The room was massive, it had a kitchen with a dishwasher, a lounge room area with a small'ish TV. A dining room table and a king sized bed. The bathroom had a average sized spa bath.

The compelx itself has about 4 seperate pools, so more than likely you can go to one without having to share. It's around 400 metres to a beach, but the streets are deserted so, although you're walking next to the road, it is still quite relaxing.

Palm Cove is about a 20 minute drive from Cairns airport. I would STRONGLY recommend you hire a car, that way you can still go back into Cairns easily for other 'touristy' stuff.

I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone else staying in Palm Cove, sure it's not right next to the beach, but it's so quiet and relaxing - who cares!

PROS
+The Price
+The size of the room
+The seperate pools
+The atmosphere, it was so quiet!
+Very helpful staff - tour ideas etc.

CONS
+No shower curtain
+The bed wasn't very comfortable

My boyfriend and I have just spent 3 nights at The Mango Lagoon Resort in Palm Cove and loved it. We didn't actually spend much time at the resort itself as we had trips to the Reef and the Daintree Rainforest booked but we were very impressed by the value for money, the size of the apartment, the lovely Thai-like setting/design of the resort and the helpfulness of the staff, especially Wendy. The apartment was great, really spacious and it was nice to have a proper kitchen and not just a mini hotplate and microwave. While it was a bit more than a 5 minute walk to the beach, even the beachfront hotels have the Esplanade between themselves and the beach so nothing is right on the beach (from what we could see). (We also considered the Melaleuca because it's closer to the beach but from the front it looked pretty tired so we're glad we decided against that!) The pools at the resort aren't huge but they're big enough and the setting is lovely and relaxing. However they could do with a few more sunbeds.

The only real downsides were that the apartment was a bit dusty - nothing too bad but the TVs and bedside tables were all quite dusty and there were a few cobwebs around (but otherwise it was spotless) - and that we were actually charged to receive a fax - not a big deal as my boyfriend's company had to pay but even so, it seems a bit extreme to charge for that, even if it was a long fax!

Wendy was very helpful booking a diving trip for us and we had a great time but, if you want a trip where you can do some sunbathing as well as diving/snorkelling, the Deep Sea Divers Den probably isn't for you as the boat (Ocean Quest) doesn't have much outdoor space and it was pretty crowded when we went.

If eating out in Palm Cove there is a fantastic Thai restaurant called Choc Dee Thai, which also does takeaway (a benefit of having your own plates and cutlery!) and is very reasonably priced. We also ate at The Sebel but while the food was good it was pretty expensive and the service while friendly was very slow - even when we wanted to pay!

We stayed here for 4 nights. Location is about 5 minutes walk from the beach. Not too bad at all. Our 2 kids (4 and 7) like their pool. Very quite and relax. We booked 2 bedrooms and it is BIG. Just 3 years old hotel so everything looks nice. The breakfast which included in our room fare is not too bad (No meat though). We booked through woif.com at the last minute.

overall, it is good base for a family to explore tropical north queensland. you can feel just like home with staying in this hotel.

We found this resort whilst searching the web and i was a bit worried about whether it was as good as it appeared on the site. We is was all we expected and more. We were nearly the only ones there and felt like we we the only ones in that part of the world. The apartment was very lovley and comfortable. Having the kitchen was brilliant to organize our own meals if we felt like it. The tropical gardens and pools were beautiful, with a back drop of the the surrounding mountains made it. Out only complaint would be that the bathroom ended up fairly wet after a shower as there was no shower screen around the spa/shower bath. This was a bit annoying when the floor did become quite wet and slippery. Small price to pay for this beautiful place. I think the only thing that i didnt really think about was that this is self contained units in a resort setting so there is not room service/cleaning unless you stay 7days or more and for other items such as coffee/tea etc it is up to the people staying to buy there own. Not something we planned on and having to buy and pack to bring home when we didnt use it all. However is saying this i would not hesitate in staying again and would just pack some food items and washing powder to bring with me next time. Highly recommended.....we were there during the wet season having experienced a huge deluge of rain this was a very comfortable peaceful place to spend time when the roads were blocked to a lot of areas and tourist experiences not being able to be accessed.
