We went to Cancutters Restaurant which is located at the Novotel Resort for Dinner. It was a bit cool that night to sit outside, so we were sitting inside.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, food was tasty and the portion was good sized. I ordered the aged Rib, but the warm Pea Salad were just normal Peas. So nothing really special.

The music was a bit loud and the lights too bright.
We had Dinner there before and I prefer the outdoor dining. It`s more cosy. and beautiful setting with the Gas flares.
It`s a bit pricy to choose from the normal menu, but they have specials as well. Locals can get a 10 % discount.

Loved the outdoor dining with the gas flares providing soft lighting. All our meals here were very enjoyable while staying at Novotel. Advantage Plus of course is half price and a full choice of the 3 courses was fixed at $55, not bad!! $55 for two people.

Where in Cairns do you eat on Good Friday that isn't going to cost the earth, understands 14yo boys can eat their bodyweight in food and still have room for dessert [and dessert, and dessert!], has a civilised wine list and seafood by the mile? Canecutters at the Novotel Resort at Palm Cove, THAT'S where! The seafood range is fabulous [and I understand this is the buffet they have saturday nights] - oysters, prawns, spanner crabs, pipis in a garlic and shallot sauce, and baked snapper, as well as meats, pasta and vegs and salads - fabulous value at $59 a head [children half price]. The food was replenished often and seemed never-ending. And Novotel makes the best mango daiquiris in Cairns. Small gripe - some of the oyster-openers need to do some remedial training in opening oysters: while my [totalling 12 over the night] were opened and served without grit, my dining partners weren't so lucky. But hey, it's a small gripe. I was impressed with the cutlery too - often buffets serving oysters lack oyster forks, and crabs lack the crab picks and claw crackers - all present and correct here. As we filled plates with shells they were promptly cleared. If you're going to book try outside if it's a balmy night - quieter [replacement of bain marie inserts can be loud]. A good family atmosphere - and I'll be back some saturday night to try it again, and again.
