“Impressive but a little disappointing”
Reviewed September 2, 2014

After a very friendly welcome we were very impressed with the size and facilities (two bathrooms, Miele appliances, spacious rooms) of our poolside unit although the bedroom was very gloomy as it backed onto a bushy garden. For the first few days of our eight day stay, the WiFi was not working properly. After the third day the WiFi was overhauled and we had no subsequent problems. Keen to have relaxing sleep-ins we had several of our mornings interrupted by the noise of tiny feet running around and toys being dropped in the unit above ours. Most of all we were disappointed by the fact that the cleaning was perfunctory with dirt that was on the floor on our arrival still being there when we left. We dined at Nu Nu with friends on our first night but were quite disappointed. Overall, having paid "top dollar" for a luxury experience, we were a little disappointed.

Room Tip: Try for beachfront.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on the resort. Of course I am disappointed we only rated an average resort as I do believe we provide an above average product.

For all future guests we do have additional lighting available for your suites if you would prefer more, and all you need to do is ask and we shall provide. Our design is very much to suite a bright and sunny Far North Queensland environment with a very tropical feel with our lush gardens and palm trees, so try to make the rooms as minimalist and naturally lit as possible.

We apologise for the issues with the wireless during your stay and that of other guests during that week. As you did allude to it has been rectified and we are getting a nice strong reception around the resort bar a couple of flat spots which we are looking to get some additional hardware to boost the service.

Although we can not always control the guest activities in other rooms beyond what one would deem inappropriate, we do have alternatives for those seeking a very secluded feel, such as Suite 1, which is absolute beachfront, out your door onto the grass and sand. So for future guests please make sure to place requests for a suite such as this or our top floor apartments etc with amazing views.

I cannot apologise enough for the unacceptable situation of the floor cleaning as it appears as though this week it was not a single event, so I can assure you this has now been dealt with and will not occur again.

I am disappointed you did not enjoy your experience with Nunu and I have talked to them in regard to this after our emails.

For future guests, it is important to understand that Nunu's is not your standard run of the mill five star restaurant. There menu is both vivid and escaping the traditional entree/main/desert style.

Of course we are very happy that you still enjoyed your stay and look forward to you accepting our offer to return and re-experience what the Alamanda should be for every guest, nothing short of amazing get-away in our little slice of paradise.

Regards,

Ty Goulter

Alamanda is good value - well-priced, clean and spacious - a large apartment, in fact, and really a bit too vast for a couple staying just two nights. But minimalists will love the expanse of bright white tile: perfect for the humidity. The only real quibbles were the lack of insect screens and rather unwieldy layout of the bedroom area.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave the positive review.
I am glad we were able to give you a great stay.
With one bedroom suites being a minimum of 85 square metres, our suites are to use a word "huge".
It's always a good problem to have a little too much room than not enough ;o)
Many rooms have slightly different floor plans, but most 1 bedroom suites also have a lounge in the bedroom (yes they are that big) and all have two bathrooms, so agreed sometimes they can therefore seem a little odd as its certainly not what most are used to.
I will discuss the insect screens with our team, but generally as we have ceiling fans and air-conditioners in every bedroom most sleep with the windows closed, but its certainly worth a look at adding.

Thank you very much for your feedback and we look forward to having you back again.

On arrival we were greeted friendly staff and a welcome drink, just like if you were at a tropical island
resort. The hotel is completly beachfront with three pools to choose from. We had a beachfront
room, and they would have to be the largest one bedroom unit I have seen, with 2 bathroom plus spa bath and a great kitchen and laundry. Ideal for families or staying a while as you can cater for
yourselves. Another bonus was the coffee machine!!!!

Room Tip: Beachfront was great

A one-night stop off for a young family - the Alamanda proved to be a hit for everyone. Spacious and well-equipped, the apartment had a well appointed kitchen and the bathroom, a decent hairdryer! Beds were comfortable too. A beautiful location which is truly beachfront, as opposed to those that claim to be so and there is a road between your accommodation and the beach. Slight problem with the (non) sliding doors, but staff were friendly, helpful and quick to rectify. It's easy to pick holes but the Alamanda is perfect enough. Only advice for those 100% self catering would be to stop off at Coles on the highway before turning into Palm Cove, as local supermarkets are limited and unsurprisingly over-priced.

Room Tip: Ground floor beachfront apartment (thirty something) at the end of the complex was ideal for a famil...

Thank you for taking the time to leave us some great feedback.

We are very pleased you loved you stay.

For future guests, you can do your Coles shopping online before you come (Clifton Beach) and they will deliver to the resort. We will then unpack this into kitchen before you arrive.
Make sure delivery is on your day of arrival a couple of hours before you are due to arrive, otherwise contact us prior if it is going to be the day before. This is particulary a great idea for those travelling with the family.

Our holiday exceeded our expectations. We were met by helpful, happy staff who offered us a cold drink on our arrival. Our luggage was taken to our room while we parked our car. Once we entered our suite we were thrilled at the facilities including a fully operational kitchen if we had the urge to cook for ourselves but as this was a week of nothing but relaxation we ate most days at one of the local cafes or restaurants that were all within 10 mins walk.
The view from our balcony was spectacular. I would not hesitate to stay here again and intend to return next year for a week of pure luxury. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday one to remember.

Our arrival and check in at the Alamanda was as expected, pleasant, friendly staff, a cold drink served whilst we filled out the paperwork and booked a tour for the next morning.. a stroll through the well maintained resort as we made our way to our room .. open the door and all we could say was WOW !

Our room/ suite was huge, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and well equipped. And then we went upstairs to the bedroom!! OMG the bedroom was bigger than most apartments!! HUGE !! His and her robes and his and her bathrooms, comfortable king size bed. We couldn't have been happier.

Outside we had the choice of 3 pools, one being kids free, a short stroll to the beach, the most beautiful wedding chapel I've ever seen and a great restaurant and bar to relax enjoy a few cold drinks and some good food. We spent a lazy afternoon indulging in the tapas menu and a few cocktails. Sadly we didn't make it to breakfast the next day but with a good range of cafes near by that didn't matter.

Sure it's a little bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. We certainly weren't disappointed. Our only regret was that we weren't staying a few more days at the Alamanda Palm Cove.

We planned to end our qld holiday with 4 nights at palm cove to relax after lots of sight seeing over the previous 10 days. The accomodation was better than expected. Our 3 bedroom apartment was massive and modern. The best thing was the heated pool. It was actually heated (unlike others who claim to be heated). The kids (and us) had 2 swims each day and loved the pool. Kids love that on holidays! The previous places we stayed on out holiday at port douglas etc, the pools were too cold and the kids were so disappointed. We also found the staff to be very helpful and professional. The only thing i would of liked was a onsite fitness room, but chatting to one of the staff in the garden one day, there is a fitness room coming. My parents stayed with us also, dad loved reading the daily papers in the very relaxing outdoor lobby. We would definetly look into staying there again if we travelled to that part of qld again.
