Sorry, this is simply a comment on price.
Please note that we didn't actually eat here.
We visited the restaurant, as we were staying nearby, to have yum cha.
Well the prices are off-the-scale high. Their prices are higher than any yum cha restaurant that we have visited in any parts of Aust and other parts of the world.
We love yum cha but decided to skip it on this occasion.
I understand that it's a tourist location, but smell the roses management, you are losing customers due to greed.
No wonder the lunch time "crowd" consisted of 2 people ... perhaps if their prices were a lot more reasonable then they might enjoy more than 2 people during their lunchtime busy period.
Just a thought.

This restaurant had another name which for them unfortunately is still listed on Trip Advisor. ( Trip advisor has been asked to remove the other) I would not go before it changed to Ming Dynasty, after finding out it had changed hands we went and enjoyed our meal and ambiance immensely....GREAT Food, simple/ casual atmosphere, but the location across from the beach wonderful. The food was tasty and traditional to its namesakes. The only pity is when a tables patrons had finished their meals, the dishes stayed around for all and sundry to see....If they could tidy up quickly, they might be able to get two seatings on busy nights. It is a balancing act, but so far they have most of the ingredients of a great restaurant for visitors and the locals alike.

This restaurant is a difficult one to review. We are from Melbourne and dine at excellent Asian restaurants regularly so we know good from bad. The reviews on trip, advisor are all true; the food is excellent, the staff are lovely but they are understaffed out front and in the kitchen for when they get busy and that ruins the experience totally. We first tried it on Christmas Day for dinner and despite there being a set menu (which we weren't told about) we waited 1 hour for the first plate and decided to leave. The main waitress was really lovely about it and understood our frustration, particularly since every one was going through the same thing.

Fortunately we decided to come back when it was quieter and give it another chance and boy were we glad we did. The service was great, the food came quickly and it was simply delicious! I don't know the provenance of the cook as we were told he used to work at the Flower Drum but i have also read that he is ex-Hilton. Nevertheless he uses very fresh ingredients and appears to know what he is doing and may well be from those restaurants. Having dined at Flower Drum I can confirm that he does not copy their recipes but the taste and variety as well as individuality is right up there. We ate there a few more times until we came back home and each meal was excellent.

I think they need to resolve the time delay issue when they are busy as a real priority because it is a major turn off and would stop people coming back and experiencing seriously good Chinese food. The waitresses are excellent and really do care but they need to manage the customers expectations better. But do try it when it's not busy and you won't be disappointed!

What a wonderfull addition to Palm Cove Restaurants. The food was fresh and tasted superb. This place definately needs promoting. Word of mouth will make this the 'go to' restaurant on the strip.

We did not find the wait excessive and as it is all cooked from fresh an wait was well worth it in every way. Just sit back an enjoy the ambience with a glass of wine, after all that is what you are on holidays for.

They were doing a roaring trade with take-aways. The staff were very pleasant and attentive.

If you want McDonalds speed then go to McDonalds!!

We will be back on our next visit in May.
