With it's stunning location, perched above the Chamberlain Gorge, El Questro homestead must rate among Australia's premier destinations. The breath-taking view is supported by the Lori and Alan team. Lori brings new meaning to the word "service", attending to each and every need of her guests and usually surpassing their expectations - she has the ability to remember what her guests like and is quick to offer without having to be asked. Alan is a superb chef, and every meal is a culinary delight - which is a wonderful experience in a remote location. And after dinner, throwing bread off the cliff to the waiting fish/turtles/freshwater crocs below is a lot of fun before retiring to the bar. The rooms are all excellent, particularly the ones canter-levered over the gorge. And the trip options are extraordinary - whether it's a trip to Zebedee Springs, the day trip around the Cockburn Ranges via Wyndham, heli-fishing for barramundi at Nulla Nulla, heli-swimming at the remote Miri Miri falls, horse riding or visiting the magnificent gorges in the near vicinity.

All in all, a truly special and unique experience !

Room Tip: The canter-levered rooms over the gorge are worth paying the extra if they're available

We stayed two nights in May in the homestead rooms, which we found comfortable and well decorated, the only down side to these rooms is the verandah outside your door is also the thoroughfare for staff and other guests which was a little annoying early in the morning, should you wish to sleep in and rest, next time would definitely book one of the other accommodation options.
Overall the staff were very friendly and accommodating, meals were delicious and well matched with wines. We dined on a communal table on our last night and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
We visited el questro gorge, zebedee springs which were absolutely fabulous, we caught the helicopter to mirrin falls where my husband and i enjoyed a beautifull picnic prepared for us. Never having been in a helicopter previously it was breath taking I highly recommend the adventure.
We look forward to returning and staying in the suite next time:)

Room Tip: Avoid the homestead rooms if you want to sleep in till 7am at least.

Dear Kensington61,

I wanted to personally thank you for the very positive review and feedback about El Questro Homestead. It is clear that your experience was a memorable one and we are pleased that you have shared it on Trip Advisor.

I understand your frustration at not being able to sleep in but could not agree more that one of the new Cliff Side Retreats or the Suite would provide better opportunity to totally relax in luxury.

We hope to see you again soon.

Warm regards,

Lori Litwack

We loved our first stay at the El Questro homestead. We arrived one evening having driven from Kununurra along side the stunning Cockburn Ranges as the sun set.

El Questro homestead appears like an oasis in the middle of the bush. It was truely magic . Emma, Lori, Alan and all the other wonderful staff make you feel very special and nothing is too much trouble for them.

The food is amazing. Alan makes his own bread which is so delicious. He also produces an amazing array of nibbles each night at drinks .

It was a wonderful break and we will return.

Our second visit to this amazing destination and boy do we just love it. The location is like heaven on earth, luxury in the middle of nowhere, impeccable service, fabulous 5 star food and acitivites that allow you to be as adventurous or as laid back as you wish. The atmosphere that managers Lori and Alan instil is one of friendliness relaxation and style.
The Camberlain Gorge room (second time round) has a gorgeous outlook over the Chamberlain River with the added luxury of a deep bath which was pure bliss after horse riding. Taking the challenge we took the option of having a guide and hiked to the top pool of Elquestro Gorge and were rewarded by having the pool all to our self. With so many activites on offer we were throughly entertained each day and even being to El Questro before we still found we have so much more to explore. We will definately be back next year.

El Questro Homestead has arrived at an excellent balance of high end comfort in an extraordinary frontier setting. Lori and staff provide faultlessly attentive, helpful, friendly service without being intrusive or ostentatious.

Alan provides wonderful meals. Dinners comprise top restaurant food with no compromise being made for the isolated location and lunches, whether in-house or as a picnic, are thoughtfully varied, light and delicious.
The bar is well stocked and generously available, with an excellent little wine list.

October is hot up there, but antidotes include being able to participate in excursions early in the day; or to aim for a shady walk up a scenic gorge to a beautiful swimming hole; or to use the homestead pool for a cooling dip (or, as a last resort to retreat to the comfortable rooms and admire the view from within the air conditioning or a cool bath).

The interaction with the scenery and the wildlife was memorable and the guides were all nice. The Homestead takes pains to make sure you never feel pressured or crowded, and in October, with the number of visitors beginning to fall, we found we had most of our excursions to ourselves.

All in all it was a superb way to indulge in some luxury while taking in an experience of a remarkable part of the country.

The hotel is beautifully built on a slight cliff by the river Pentecost. It is decorated in great taste. The staff is very knowledgeable and absolutely charming. The cook is phenomenal and flexible to any dietary requirements. The rooms are very nice, although on the smaller side. You do not have much spacce for your suitcase. It is a place to relax or to go on different hikes. there are some breathtaking gorges near by. Just remember to take your hiking boots. All the terrain is very irregular and with many slippery stones.

Stayed in the secluded and very exclusive Homestead. Simply amazing. 6* service, magical location, beautiful building with relaxing rooms and gardens.

Unfortunately only stayed one night as it was at the end of a long event we staged around the Kimberly's.

Would love to come back one day.
