We had booked here for a few days but ended up staying for a week. The park is a great place to relax. Great sites with excellent facilities. The staff were super friendly, both at the office and at the grounds. Meals are available and once or twice a week some live music. Internet is almost non existent and also there is no mobile coverage (good to relax!!)

Dear RobertKaren
We are so glad you had such a relaxing and enjoyable time during your stay here and it is not uncommon for our guests to do exactly what you did and extend their stay! We are continuing to lobby for improved communications but it is nice to see guests engaging with each other rather than being distracted by phones. From all the staff here at Lake Argyle Resort - enjoy the rest of your travels.

Thank you so much for your excellent service. Leah, you are a treasure! Staying open late for us to get in even though we came in two hours after closing time, service you don't hear about these days! And still a happy smiling face greeting us when we arrived. Excellent clean rooms an comfy bed with ice cold air con. And the views. I have no words to explain the happiness we experienced when waking up to the view I the lake. Enjoyed a walk along the dam wall and then a pleasant swim in the gorgeous infinity pool. Location WOW!! Chef cooked us an awesome breaky and all staff were happy, smiling and willing for a chat. You guys are blessed to have such an awesome home!! Thanks again and will rave to all about this resort. Absolute gem!!

While travelling to Kununurra on business a few times per, we have stayed many times at this great Lake Argyle Resort & Caravan Park. We’re always happy to be back in this wonderful oasis with its world class swimming pool and spectacular view over the lake.
It is a great location, with very friendly staff in a beautiful environment.

Good campsites and the pool is world class! Would recommend.

I don't have anything else to say why is trip advisor so stupid as to require a 200 charcter minimum, beyond belief!
Still not enough words .......

Room Tip: A must do is the sunset cruise on Lake Argyle

Not sure where to start with how great this place was for us. After spending a couple of pretty average days in expensive motel accommodation in Fitzroy Crossing and Kununurra, Lake Argyle Resort was an absolute oasis.

Firstly, there is the genuine and, what might now be termed, 'old fashioned' service. Everywhere along our route had been staffed by travellers who's demeanour was somewhere between disinterested and rude. Lake Argyle is staffed by people that actually care about the job they are doing and realise that the guests appreciate that.

We had paid a deposit to cover 1 of our 2 nights stay when we booked. Upon arrival the woman at the desk informed us that since the booking was placed they had started a 2 nights for the price of 1 deal and that we now no longer had to pay for the second night. Both myself, my wife and our bank balances really appreciated this and we actually couldn't quite believe what we were hearing. There would have been no way for us to know about any special deal and you would assume that most (probably all) other places would just happily take the money off you. This alone would have been enough to motivate me to write this review, but it gets better.

Secondly, after being at so many expensive motel/hotels throughout the region that are just run down motel blocks given a new coat of paint etc, the vibe of this place was another really welcome surprise. They have kept all of the natural charm of the original caravan park (brings back memories of great 80's holidays) while giving the place well thought out and worthwhile updates. We stayed in a regular room and it was clean and modern, but not in a way that is either pretentious or a cynical grab for a higher room rate. The cabins are comfortable, private and up to date.

Thirdly, there is the pool. This is truly one of a kind. Beautifully designed in a way that makes the most of the magnificent view. You really need to see it in person to believe it. Every new person that got in the pool after us had the same reaction: "Wow!" I was such a great experience. It was one of the first (maybe the only) times on our holiday I found people (ourselves included) just chatting to complete strangers. I think the old fashioned holiday vibe and natural beauty of the place really encouraged an openness and friendliness in people. And to arrive just before sunset after a long hot day was just perfect.

All I can say is this is the best place we stayed and the greatest experience on our entire 2 week holiday. My wife and I both count this as an absolute highlight (and we also stayed in 5 star accommodation at Cable Beach). No mobile reception, practically no TV reception, but you don't need either. The ultimate balance of charm and luxury. Recommended for both couples and families that appreicate an actual holiday and not just your usual life transplanted into another part of the country. Go there before it gets a write up in one of the big city papers and everyone is talking about it.

No need to stay in Kununurra town. Load up on supplies (we made ourselves a couple of BBQ meals that were better than any of the overpriced pub meals we had on our route) and spend an extra day at Lake Argyle. It's only about 40 mins drive out of town if you forget something.

Would love to go back.

Room Tip: 2 nights for the price of 1 deal runs through the wet season, so I would recommend booking on the ed...

Dear Keith,
A great big THANK YOU for putting so much time and effort into writing such a comprehensive and well written review! Especially like your comment regarding the lack of modern communication facilities. We are lobbying to try to get mobile phone coverage here, but sometimes we think that maybe it is a good thing that there is not any phone reception. All of our guests have a great time chatting to each other without being distracted by their phones and many stay for a week or more because of the peace and quiet.
Thanks again, and all of the staff and management at Lake Argyle wish you all the best for the rest of your travels.

We've stayed at the Lake Argyle resort several times as its convenient for us driving from home in Halls Creek to Darwin. We have also travelled there just to stay, combining a night there with some time spent at Parry's Creek Farm near Wyndham, WA. The cabins are the pick of the accommodation with air-conditioning, a must-have feature from September through to May. The dining room prepares lovely dinners - when arriving late in the low season we've ordered ahead and the meal is waiting for us. Excellent service and it's licensed to sell alcohol. There is no mobile phone service after leaving Kununurra although there is a land-line phone at the resort. No internet there, except in the cafe. The great cruises of lake Argyle leave from the resort and are worth booking into. Avoid the tents late in the season as the fans cannot cool them down. The infinity pool is fabulous!

Room Tip: The safari tents are hot inside when its hot outside.

Recently dined in the restaurant at the Resort @Lake Argyle, my hubby ordered a chicken schnitzel $27 which was on the menu with chips & salad, he ordered vegies at an extra cost of $4 and when it arrived it was an overcooked schnitzel served on potato mash with a handful of assorted frozen vegies right out of a packet - not an appealing meal at all for $31. I had a Caesar salad with chicken @ an extra cost - it was very ordinary, a bit of hard boiled egg mixed through, no croutons, surely it's not very hard to serve with a poached egg pretty ordinary for $27.
The staff were friendly but the place could do with a good clean.
We arrived late and hadn't booked before hand, stayed in an ensuite room which was interconnected to another cabin, while it was clean & nicely presented the occupiers of the other room were having a good time, all of which was audible word by word by us. There was a deal for end of season 2 nights for the price of one, as we only wanted one night we were still charged the $219.00 for a double room, rather overpriced in our opinion! We moved on the next day to Kununurra where a very new beautifully presented self contained apartment in a beautiful complex with pool & all amenities was the same price - no comparison, take our advice and drive into town and stay if you have the time.
We did have a lovely time on the Lake Argyle sunset cruise with the cruise operators next to the resort, Mat was a great host and shared his vast knowledge of the lake with us, topped off by a sunset swim with champagne in the water - now that's the life!!

Hi Sue Y,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your dissatisfaction with the quality of your experience at Lake Argyle. I appreciate your feedback regarding your dining experience with us and regret that it was not brought to my attention at the time. We do not profess to be a high quality A La Cart restaurant, but we do take pride in trying to ensure that guests get great value for money, and as you would no doubt understand, our remote location does add a considerable cost to our operations and therefore the cost of food and accommodation is unfortunately a bit higher than in less remote locations.
Your comments about sound from neighbouring rooms are much appreciated and we are modifying the design of these rooms and any new construction of accommodation to rectify this problem.
Great to hear that your cruise on the lake was a pleasant experience.
Once again, we very much appreciate your feedback and hope the rest of your travels go smoothly.
Kind regards from the staff and management at Lake Argyle.
