Discovery Parks - Lake Kununurra
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 19, 2014

This is a nice caravan park right on the banks of Lake Kununurra and boasts a resident crocodile named George.
The really special thing about this caravan park is the people who run it. Mark and Katherine are the managers,
ably assisted by Dean and Melissa. They regularly put on sausage sizzles and pancake breakfasts in exchange
for a donation to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
As with any business, it all starts from the top. These are nice people and will make every effort to make your stay a pleasant one.

We camped at this beautiful part of the world for 10 nights. The Management and staff of this park needs to be commended on their hospitality and fantastic customer service and friendliness. Great fundraising for Careflight with the Barra and Beef Bar B Que and the Camp Oven Cookout. Clean amenities, clean park and very proactive!

Room Tip: Plan to stay longer than "just passing through"!

We booked in for one night, arriving late and after receiving wonderful advice from Mark and Kathryn the next day checked out only to return that night.

Not only was their accommodation (2br family unit - we couldn't be bothered setting up out tents as we were saving our energy for bush camps), we had had such a busy and enjoyable day we decided to go back and stay again.

Mark, Kathryn and their team put on a great Beef and Barramundi BBQ and they donated the proceeds to Care Flight (or similar).

This is a great park which I highly recommend for their helpful, friendly and clean comfortable accommodation. Thanks guys.

The advice to visit Mitchell Falls was greatly appreciated, they were beautiful and a real highlight to date.

We come to Kununurra frequently but this was our first experience of staying in a caravan park - we couldn't have been happier. The location is beautiful, very quiet, on the waters edge and best of all, walking distance to The Pump House! It is also at the start of the local walking trail. The waterside cabin was perfect, clean, cool and with a fully equipped kitchen with the standard much higher than many motels at which we have stayed. Kathryn and Mark were terrific hosts so we will definitely be staying there again. We couldn't recommend it more highly.

I stayed at Discovery Holiday Park Lake Kununurra recently on two occasions first with my elderly parents and then with my Sister and Brother in-law a week later and we had a wonderful experience on both occasions. We stayed in the villas and everything is spot on, this Park is exceptionally well run, very clean, neat and tidy and it is a real credit to the management. Who went out of their to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable, even to the point of driving my sister and brother in-law to the airport. The Beef and Barra BBQ fund raiser for Care Flight is exceptional. I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone and we will all definitely be staying there again, Top Marks Discovery Holiday Park Lake Kununurra.

This lovely park is set right on Lake Kununurra and the managers, Kathryn and Mark, are terrific and helpful hosts, along with their staff. We were upgraded to deluxe cabins near the water on their special rate so it was great value. It’s got a decent size bathroom and very good air conditioning (really needed in March). The pool was a nice place to unwind under the shade, even though the water temp was a bit warm.

Highly recommend the Monday night barra and beef bbq and Saturday night sausage sizzle with money raised for charity. And don’t miss on seeing the resident freshwater crocs. Great place for birdlife (saw tawny frogmouths on our first night) but as the park is next to the lake be prepared for insects, especially in the warmer months, and decent sized geckos (part of life in the north).

My wife and I and two daughters called in to stay for one night only.
We were on our way across the top to Queensland trying to escape the heat and humidity that seemed to be following us over the last couple of weeks since leaving Karratha.
The friendly receptionist reminded us that Kununurra was a lovely place with much to see and that we could get an even better deal if we wanted to lengthen our stay.
That night we met most of the staff and a few other guests and caravaners at the BBQ that the park staff organise twice a week.
The food was yummy and very reasonably priced with the proceeds going to charity.
All the staff were sooo friendly and happy to chat about sights to see, tours to consider and places to fish, we decided to stay for maybe a week.
We'll we are still here 5 weeks later and are finding it very hard to leave. There is plenty to see in and around Kununurra and we are having a fantastic time.
Kununurra is indeed a magic location and we are so grate full to the staff at the park for not only their genuine friendship but also for the fantastic facilities that are clean and tidy and so we'll managed.
We'll done Discovery lake Kununurra, we will certainly be back on our next trip around.
Cheers
Paul and Simone Wilson
