“VERY NOISY”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

We stayed for over two weeks as family members are permanent at the park. (Otherwise we would have moved) Overall, The stay was unpleasant. The aboriginal community over the fence played LOUD music ALL night for over half of our stay. Yes, ALL night!!!!! I had an Ensuite site which despite request did not get a mow for my whole stay. The Ensuite was not cleaned even once or restocked with toilet paper. The coconut palms are not maintained and two coconuts as well as a huge frond dropped beside our camper late one afternoon. Luckily my children were not underneath.

Before describing the cabin and the park facilities, there is one very important point for the reader to take into consideration before making a booking – particularly if you are making a booking through one of the accommodation aggregator websites; you MUST know what time you are going to arrive at this park!

I think most readers (myself included) have made plenty of bookings in the past where we are asked for an arrival time and we just put any old time in, not really giving it much thought. That’s because we assume there will always be someone there to check us in when we arrive. Well not so at this park! Their reception is only open in the mornings and is not open at all on Sundays. If you arrive outside of reception hours, you must phone the number on the door. If you have arrived significantly earlier than you said you would, you may have a very long wait to check in, as the receptionist may have taken off to run errands somewhere. If you’re coming from the Northern Territory (like I did), remember that Kununurra’s time zone is an hour-and-a-half behind the N.T. (I forgot!). Okay, you could go and check out the sights around Kununurra while you wait, but aside from Mirima National Park – which is a conveniently small time-killer – there’s not an awful lot to do close by to town, and if you’ve been driving for eight hours already (like I had), the last thing you want to do is even more driving around; you just want to lie down and ferment.

Aside from this potential problem, the park was actually pretty good. It was shady, neat, green and clean. The reception staff (when they were there) were friendly and helpful and the cabin I stayed in was clean and well equipped. On the downside, the old box air-conditioner in my cabin was quite ineffective and very noisy; I had to move the bed under the vent to feel any relief from the heat. I did notice that some of the other cabins had split systems, which I have always found to be more effective at cooling than the box-type air conditioners, so perhaps you could request one of these cabins instead.

Stayed here in between moving house. Cabin was small & not very clean.
Lots of dirt under the dining table, used earplugs on the window sill, dirty blinds.
Shower recess was tiny, suitable for small children.
Expensive for the time of year.
Pool was awesome, laundry room priced well.

We put up our camper but before long, we knew that even in the shade, the 42 degree heat was going to get us! We bailed out into a cabin ! The staff, every one of them could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The Ensuite we had at the camp site was clean. The cabins were spotless and we had a lovely one close to the pool. The whole area is kept clean and as green as possible at this time of the year. We also had some fascinating bird life in the trees around us. All in all we found it a great place to stay.

Would like to say a big thank you to management and staff. We had been to look at other parks and were not too happy with the reception we received, maybe it was just one of those days. When we came into your park it really does look like an oasis, when we got to the reception door we could hear laughter which i thought was nice to hear.We booked a suite for one night and the girls were so professional and very helpful. On departing the next morning we met Tania and asked about tours, and what to do around kununurra, she gave us pamphlets and told us of things to do that were free as well. What really stuck with us was that she spent time with us showing us where to go,where to eat and arranged a couple of tours for us.As we were due to leave that morning we asked if it would be ok to park our cars in the visitors carpark until we returned from one of our tours, which was quite late in the afternoon she had no problems with this as we were leaving she offered us parking in their staff carpark as we did have quite a lot of stuff in the back.On our return we had decided to stay another night which was not a problem and put into another suite closer to the pool which was perfect we ended up staying an extra 2 nights. We said to Tania that we would put in a good word to her manager, which she just said dont worry about it and started laughing, but we felt that this could not go unmentioned until she let us off the hook and told us she is the manager. You wouldnt know who the manager is at this place as they are all such nice people and made our holiday a memorable one.Their is so much to do here and thoroughly enjoyed our tours.Thank you all very much,we need more people like that who are just down to earth and dont mind going the extra mile.

A group of us stayed at Ivanhoe Caravan Park for about 6 weeks as we were working in the area.I can not say enough that would describe how well run that place is.We found all the staff just fantastic, friendly and made us feel so comfortable. The service from the cleaner all the way to the top is to be highly recommended. They work very hard to keep this place going and we found out that they are all leaving soon.Where ever they go they will be a blessing to whoever hires any of these people, sometimes it is hard to be away from home working but when you have people like this that treat you like part of the family it sure makes living away much easier. This park is beautifully kept and that is the team effort from them.We would like to thank you all for our stay and wish you all well and who knows maybe we will run into all of yous again someday.Pleasure meeting you all and thanks.

Room Tip: If you are looking for shade and grass while camping this is the place. They are very helpful.

We have been travelling for 3 months and had been told by a few people we had met along the way to stay at Ivanhoe Caravan Park.We got into Kununurra and had a look at a couple of parks, but decided to stay at Ivanhoe. We had a lovely shady site with grass. We are so sick of dirt. The staff were very friendly. We noticed that they start their work early in the morning as it is very hot as the day goes on.We booked in for 2 nights and stayed 5.Unfortunately we have to go but we will be telling people about this place, the staff are so helpful and friendly,we hope to see them again someday.Keep up the good work guys, you are all worth your weight in gold.
