Lakeside Resort Kununurra
Ranked #5 of 10 Hotels in Kununurra
Reviewed July 28, 2011

We stayed for 3 nights. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. There were good barbeques and outdoor tables available for use. Breakfast was very good. Location is a little away from town only 5 mins by car - Kununurra is not exactly big!
I would certainly reccommend Lakeside Resort.

We are from Broome, Western Australia & our aim was to take a family relation visiting from Germany to a different location in the Kimberley Region of this state.
Knowing Kununurra and what it held for visitors made it an easy choice. Choosing the Lakeside Resort in Kununurra proved to be a bonus. It is well located on the opposite side of the highway from the town centre. Your own transport is a necessity although there is a shuttle in operation from the resort. You would still need a car to get to the many interesting locations in the area. The resort borders a lake containing fresh water crocodiles and this makes for interesting spotting especially at night with a good torche.
On arrival we were met enthusiastically by reception staff who were very kind and cheerful. They provided all necessary information efficiently and made us feel welcome.
"Resort" is a bit of an overstatement as the premises consists of self contained one room chalets each with private facilties, motel style rooms with private facilities and a caravan/camping park.
The ablutions, where they are shared, are kept in good condition and cleaned regularly not like some parks. The swimming pool is centrally located and well maintained and is adjacent to the "Sails" outdoor eating & bar area. Food there is very good.
We found all employees cheerful and helpful at all times.
The only downside we found was that it was a little pricey considering the small rooms on offer in the self contained chalets. They did however have everything you could need including airconditioning.
We would recommend this place for stays of up to 3 days as this would certainly allow sufficient time to cover all major poiints of interest in the area.
Officially the resort is rated as 3 star. It could easily be awarded a further half star.

This motel is on the lake's edge but it is not walking distance to the town centre which is a bit inconvenient if you arrive by coach and don't have your own vehicle. The rooms are quite comfortable and the meals in the restaurant are good. Staff were polite and willing to engage in conversation. Using the internet was a bit inconvenient as there is no wi fi in the rooms, only a computer which you have to use in the office in front of anyone who is there. It is not connected to a printer and there is a fee for its use.
