Shaam-e-Sarhad is a gem of a hotel, offering you a home stay type of experience with hotel facilities. This resort is managed by the local communities and gives you a small glimpse into the lives of the Kutchis. The staff is very polite - despite having no experience with hospitality - and are extremely helpful. Rooms are in the form of mud houses, also known as bungas, or tents - take your pick. The beauty of this hotel is that it melts away in the rains (remember, the entire resort is made from mud!!) and is rebuilt every year by the locals. We stayed in the mud house and it was very cozy, comfortable and safe. The mud work on the walls was beautifully done! The bathroom was very clean and modern.
I'd recommend this place to anyone considering a visit to Kutch or to the Great White Rann. This place is definitely a better option as compared to the Tents at the Rann. I'll go back here any day.More
