We joined another family for a pre-Christmas stay in Las Terrenas. The house was not within walking distance from the town so a car is necessary. The drive up to the house was very steep so in fact a decent car is necessary!
The house was roomy and all bedrooms had their own bathrooms, it had a lovely outside terrace with covered sitting and dining area, a lovely pool with two long chairs and a delightful garden within a safe compound with shared tennis court. It also had an i-pod/i-phone dock with decent speakers which we enjoyed, plus great wifi service. We were well looked after by the housekeepers Rikermy and his wife Rosa, who were delightful.
Located 5 minutes outside Las Terranas the position is perfect, away from most of the noise and high enough to have great views. Rikermy and Rosa were very attentive hosts/housekeepers and the house was very spacious. Cooking facilities/pots/pans etc could have been of a better quality and the tennis court needs attention but overall it was a great holiday. The roads around Las Terranas are very rough and the drive up to the villa pretty steep so a 4x4 is recommended.
Wonderful and useful house, very beautiful view, secure compound, extraordinary garden, excellent tennis court, very kind service.
We had an excellent time in Loma Taniera.

We shared a villa with some friends for holidays and were so glad to choose this place. We directly felt at home in this gorgeous Loma. Fred and Alix are very welcoming and helped us with everything we needed. The view is amazing and after a day in the beach there is nothing as a relaxing sunset near the pool... The house is very confy and we felt it was more adapted than a hotel to share moments with friends and family.
the stay was very good, we stay over new years, i am native dominican, and my wife is american, we brought my family, and my wife parents, they enjoy it a lottt.
couple of things to improve, the wifi was slow, and the music from the surrounding colmado (bodega, pool parlor) could be hear in the house for around 24 hrs, but i guess the latter is hard to control.

Villas Taniera is a great place, we really enjoyed our stay.
The villas are located on top of the hill near Las Terrenas center. It's very quite. You do need a jeep (or a quad) to access. The villa is located 3 mins away driving from the beach (Playa Popy) where you can find delicious food and cocktails and 10 minutes by foot from the city center with shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars etc.
The villa is on three floors with the master bedroom on top. A second bedroom is on the ground floor while the other two bedrooms are on the floor below. Nice views from all bedrooms but the very best place is the infinity pool located at the front of the villa and the terrace arround. There is a lot of space in and arround the house. We felt at home.
Fred and his team (Nairobi, Manuel) are very helpful to make your stay pleasant.
The villa was cleaned daily by Nairobi.
The internet created some problems, but Nairobi send someone who solved it.
The villa is in the middle of a beautiful garden.
We could not pay the deposit and the final payment via paypal or on an account in Europe. We had some problem to transfer money to the D.R. and that also caused high fees for each transfer. Compared with other houses the deposit was quite high.
Leaving the problems regarding money transfers aside, it has been a magnificent experience...
We highly recommend Villa Taniera and thank Fred & Alix for this great holiday! We would like to come back in 2016 and already sent a request to Fred regarding our next stay :-) :-)

We have stayed now the second time at Villa Taniera and I can only recommend this place. The villas are all very cozy yet modern furnished and they offer a fantastic view over the bay. There is plenty of space for everything and we enjoyed the light atmosphere there.
Fred is a great host and he takes care of any issues you have. I have done a lot of research before I chose the place to stay (always 4-7weeks) and I was more than happy to stay there with my family. It's a safe place, close to the little town - you can walk there - but also quiet. Not so easy to find in :-).
