Ate here on a Wednesday evening and it was buzzing, fortunately we had booked - even in October I'd recommend booking!
Warm greeting and excellent service.
The food was first class, we ordered starters and mains of battered cod and chips. It was an enormous portion that we received, very light batter & scrummy chips It's unusual for my partner to be beaten by his food but even he couldn't finish it all!
The quality was excellent and we will return!

A Seaton local tipped me off about this place and I decided to check it out because local knowledge is often invaluable. There were plenty of customers when I walked in one Monday lunchtime (which is always a good sign), and the food was top notch, as was the local ale I tried too. The ambience is friendly and homely with a charming country interior, will definitely be returning in the future to sample the evening menus.

We popped into the Ship on Friday for the first time in about 5 years. Absolutely knocked out by the place - fantastic food and brilliant service.
Yes it is squashed at the bar but everyone moves to let you get served. It's just a tiny, quirky area.
Yes we waited a while for dinner but this was because each item was freshly cooked - no microwaved rubbish. I would recommend the steak stroganoff - just yummy.
We did have to laugh at the poor reviews - they really don't reflect the joys of this great pub. A couple of reviews criticised the staff - just don't know how they could do this. We found them all to be lovely and friendly and with good sense of humour.
As luck would have it my husband left his jacket behind so we had to return on Sunday to pick it up. It's a hard life!!

Graham and Sarah have made this local pub perfect for both hungry locals and holiday guests visiting the area. We send all our very discerning holiday guests from our farm, usually mixed age couples enjoying the area , and they all report back with excellent reports of friendly service and lovely food. We couldnt agree more, we often go for a quick crab sandwich for lunch when too busy at home and a delightful early evening meal, its always packed with locals as well, and that says it all!! Hungry farmers want plenty to eat and not just a "jus"!! Sue Pittendrigh, Higher Manor Farm, Combpyne

We were staying at the campsite in Axmouth and had heard that if you liked fish, this was the Pub to go to. We were there fairly early and managed to get a table for two but it may be an idea to book - lots of tables were reserved which possibly speaks volumns. The girl that greeted us was great - she made sure we were looked after well. For the two of us, we had two fish starters, one fish main (a special), one duck main and four alcoholic drinks - all for £63. The food was amazing. If we were ever back in this area - we would definitely stop off here again.
