Websters has always been a place that I drive past but never actually eaten in. Tonight changed that. I visited with my OH and we both ordered regular fish and chips which comes with a pot of tea or coffee and bread within the price. Sides were extra but we ordered a garden peas and a baked beans to go alongside. The food was quick to the table and hot. The fish had light crispy batter and the chips were not greasy which was good. The bowls that the sides came in were hot which kept them warm all the way through eating. Also both my tea and my OH's coffee stayed warm in the pots until after our plates were cleared away. I was quite surprised to read other peoples negative comments regarding the staff - we found them, and Simon the general manager, attentive and polite without being overbearing. No issues whatsoever there. My only gripe, and it is a small one - it would have been nice to see a smaller portion, or light bite fish and chips offered on the main menu. There were some lovely puddings on offer but I just couldn't manage one. If there had been (I didn't see one) an option for this I would have no doubt been tempted into two courses.
Overall I'm sure we'll pay another visit sometime soon.
