Black Firs Guesthouse
Reviewed September 3, 2012

This is the best B&B we have stayed at, we visit the Birmingham NEC twice a year and find this guesthouse not only ideally located but perfectly presented. The accomadation is absolutely spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable, no attention to detail missed. Julie makes you feel most welcome in her home as does her sister Tracey. The breakfast cannot be faulted, you are spoilt for choice with good quality food from the cereals on offer, to the mix of fresh fruit to the fantastic English cooked breakfast. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at this place to everyone. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Our favourite room is number 8

We have stayed at Black Firs during August each year over the last five years, and never cease to be amazed at the friendly yet professional exceptionally high quality of service and hospitality we receive from Julie and her team. We do a lot of international business travel each year and we can confidently say that Black Firs is the best B&B that we have ever stayed at. It is exceptionally clean and meticulously presented, beautifully decorated and the dining room is just exquisite. The garden is also exceptional in its beauty and presentation and Julie, the hostess is very hos pitiful, charming and extemely helpful and it is clear how much pride Julie takes in running the Guesthouse.
The breakfast is superb with every little detail thought of, perfect perfectly cooked!, fresh seasonal strawberries, blueberries, just the best! The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean, the rooms and beds are extremely comfortable with the bedding fresh and luxurious.
We leave for home in NZ today, but have already booked for next year!!!
Regards, David & Christine

An exceptional guesthouse, beautifully decorated and very clean. The room had good brewing facilities (essential after a day on your feet at The Quilt Show) , gorgeous bedding, hairdryer, toiletries and TV. Julie is a very welcoming lady and couldn't do enough to help, such as booking taxis etc. The wonderful breakfast was served in the conservatory overlooking the beautiful garden. Very handy for the NEC and for going into Birmingham city centre.

The Guesthouse was outstanding. Exceptionally clean and meticulously presented in considering comfort and space. The garden is also expceptional in its beauty and preseantation. Julie, the landlady and hostess was charming and extemely helpful. For example, her recommendations for dining in the region proved to be absolutely accurate as was her knowledge of getting around the area. Her sister Tracy, was also fantastic in her amiable nature and presentation of breakfast. Overall, I highly recommend the guesthouse to others and my wife and I look forward to our next stay with Julie.

We have stayed at Black Firs many times and have always been impressed by the quality, service and hospitality offered by Julie. Our recent visit was no exception and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. The breakfast is superb with every little detail thought of, perfect poached eggs too! The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean and it is clear how much pride Julie takes in running the Guesthouse. The rooms and beds are extremely comfortable with the bedding smelling freshly washed, just like home. Nothing is too much trouble - a worthy number 1 Guesthouse.

We 1st stayed here in November last year for a show at the NEC.This time we stayed Mon to Fri and couldn't be made more welcome. We were greeted like old friends and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean, had a good selection of beverages wonderful clean linen that it seemed shame to sleep in it. Julie had a good local knowledge and pointed out some good places to eat and visit. The breakfast was brilliant, Julie and Tracy work well together sorting out orders, everything was well presented and replenished without fuss. Tracy was very good at breakfast remembering from the previous day what your preference was. No wonder this little B&B keeps getting awards, during our stay they gained another. The cost is about the same as the cheesy hotel chains but service is A1.
Will definately recommend this to friends and will be back again later this year

Room Tip: They are all good

I stay at Black Firs once a year for work purposes and it's a pleasure to stay somewhere that is welcoming and homely compared to most of the anonymous hotels in the area. The proprietor Julie is always very helpful with taxis etc and they do one of the best English breakfasts I've had in a hotel. I should say that the beds are very comfortable and the lovely garden gives a nice outlook when having breakfast. All in all I would thoroughly recommend Black Firs if you are in the area.
