“Amazing Experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

The staff at Jashita were absolutely fantastic! Enjoyed chatting with several staff members who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Elliot at the front desk was attentive and always available to help in any way. Miguel at the restaurant was gracious and extremely helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The atmosphere of the entire property is well designed, comfortable, and so relaxing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your amazing hotel and we look forward to returning in the near future!

Amazing place to stay and absorb the incredible beach retreat provided by Jashita. Impeccable service, exquisite food and relaxing atmosphere. The Villa Jasmine was exceptionally well appointed with all the mod cons and lots of space for a big group of people. We spent most of our time lazing on the sandy white beach and enjoying the warm and clear Carribean waters. Well worth the money - easily the best boutique hotel we have frequented. Look forward to seeing Tomasso (great host with amazing knowledge of Tulum's best eats and things to do - every recommendation was spot on) and his team next time we're in Tulum.

I have just spent the most amazing week here with family & friends from Australia. I can not recommend this magical place highly enough. From the beautifully designed villas, friendly happy staff, delicious food, picturesque sandy white beach it's hard not to instantly switch off and relax. I have been lucky enough to visit Tulum 17 times in the last 7 years, this is the first time I have been on vacation there! I will never stay anywhere else again.

It doesn't get much better than this - quite possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. It's boutique but the service is grand. The fit-out and ambiance is fantastic; right down to the choice (and volume) of music in the restaurant. The food is excellent in both selection and quality - there really is no need to go elsewhere; except just to explore the area and mix it with the locals. Location is great for Tulum ruins, Tulum town, Xel-Ha, many cenotes and local dive centres - far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to get to the action if you want it. We had a great time! ;0)

WHile the rooms are well-appointed and the property is secluded and intimate, the beach does not have soft sand on it and furthermore, not much sand at all. We would be hard pressed to spend the day on the sea there. We love the beach and this property doesn't have one. Our room was supposed to be ocean front - it wasn't. It was tucked behind many trees next to the restaurant. When I asked the reception person why we didn't have oceanfront as we reserved, he told us "there is the ocean, through the trees, there." THough most reviews say otherwise, we don't think this is worth the money at all. One must carry towels to the beach and bring them back with them. There is no one on the beach to bring a cold drink or take care of any needs. We don't need to be waited on hand and foot, but for this price, we should have been.

As a travel writer who focuses mainly on reviewing boutique hotels, I’ve seen my fair share. So what exactly is it that keeps me coming back to Jashita?

If, like me, your ideal vacation involves perfect white beaches and breath-taking aquamarine sea, lazing around in the sun, swimming, snorkelling and padding from paradise view to paradise view with deliciously designed backdrops in between, you’ll probably be aware that you're spoilt for choice the world over. You could empty your wallet at perfectly pruned resorts of the likes of the Aman group for example and you’ll be guaranteed it'll tick all those boxes and far far more.

But, if you prefer as I do, the homespun charms of a truly boutique retreat, that’s been handcrafted by a family with a sense of personal dedication rather than a team of show-off designers. Or if you’d rather sit down for a home-cooked (and often home-caught) dinner by a family of passionate gastronomes (who would incidentally give most great chefs an inferiority complex) – then, mark my words, you will be in paradise here.

And then you have the location, location, location, that’s genuinely earns an echo. Nestled at the end of one of Mexico’s most stunning Caribbean coves, Jashita is, except one ramshackle (but fabulous) fish shack at the other end of the beach, the only commercial operation on the beach. What’s more, where on windy days waves will spoil the swimming on almost every other beach in this area, this entire cove is protected by a submerged reef half a mile off shore – leaving Soliman Bay with a perfectly gentle tide and waist height swimming in every direction every day of the week. It’s perfect for kids but even more perfect for couples and people who are looking for the kind of calm and peace in nature this kind of vacation requires.

That said, once you’re all relaxed and in need of a little more entertainment you’ll find yourself a ten minute drive away from one of the worlds most magical and popular destinations. Tulum is, for almost 8 months of the year, a nirvana of cool - alive with creativity, music, dancing, gastronomy (Hartwood is a must for dinner) and enough top-level yoga classes to attract the best of the best celebrity yogis from their studios in Hollywood.

Sunbathe, stretch, spa, explore, shop, socialise, eat and dance and when you’ve had enough action, hop in a taxi you’ll be back to Jashita’s idyll on the coast’s most stunning bay in a matter of minutes. Is there anything else you could ask for? Honestly, as a travel writer, there really is always more!

But when a place captures that truly rare magic that makes you remember what vacations are for, the type where you go home with the unmistakably feeling that you know who you are and what life’s all about – that’s a hotel to go back to. Any hotel that can serve that up in plenty, as Jashita never seems to fail to, is not only a rarity – it’s a hotel, that even after a long day’s writing, is worth writing home about.

Room Tip: All the suites are amazing - truly - but the honeymoon suites offer panoramic views from rooftop ter...

We stayed there for 6 nights at the beginning of our honeymoon and couldn't fault the place. The beach and views from the hotel are absolutely stunning. We went travelling on around the Yucatan peninsula and this was without doubt the best place we stayed at.

Highly recommended!
