Description: Wonderful Palapa Restaurant since 1982 with a pebble floor, mayan sculptures, waterfalls, hammocks, exotic birds, a peaceful garden with a fantastic jungle setting. Excellent Seafood, Authentic Mexican and Yucatecan Cuisine. World Famous "Lalo's Special", a dish made with fresh shrimp, lobster, calmer, fish and chicken fajitas is Superb. The ceviche made of fresh fish, shrimp, lobster, octopuss and lemon is also exceptional. The most relaxing place to laze in a hammock after a delicious feast.

This restaurant has a great location, it has built a nice touristy looking complex for dining.

The good things end there. The lighting is dark, the tables are too big for a couple or even a party of four, the menu is limited and the staff seems to have very little enthusiasm for the job.

This restaurant clearly makes its greatest income from larger tour groups that sit at their big round table, have a pre determined meal and are encouraged to drink some taquila. That may be fine for such a group but it was not at all what we were hoping for.

Its a bad sign when the waiter offers you taquilla even before you have been seated and that sign is confirmed when its offered again within another minute.

The food was unexceptional and at least 20% more than comparable fair at better restaurants in the area.

We love market intelligence and are glad when restaurants want to know what is driving their market. But this one took almost 15 minutes to fill in and seemed to be trying to find out which large tour operator was bringing them the best business.

We would not recommend this restaurant to you and ask you to think carefully about what kind of authentic experience you want to have on your vacation.

This restaurant, is a great place and an easy find. Located on the right side of the highway when driving south from Akumal to Tulum. The 4 of us went there 3 times during our 10 day stay in Akumal area. The food was great, the service excellent, and the jungle garden setting great. They have a 2 year old monkey that comes around every so often. Very funny and loves people. Recomended.

The atmosphere is beautiful at night, I must say. We were there on a Sunday evening, and only a hand full of people were there. We have been here several times when they were on the beach, and we had heard it was still good. I, love shrimp and mole, so I ordered the shrimp enchiladas with mole sauce. Every time I have ordered them in the states even, it was prepared with medium to large grilled shrimp, cut in bite sized pieces. I was so excited to try theirs...the real deal...I took my first bite and found that it was nothing but tiny bait shrimp and a very runny , watered down mole...really!!! Absolutely no flavor at all. Lucky for me the resident kitten had a filling meal. My hubbie ordered the grilled mixed seafood with sauted mushrooms, butter and garlic, carrots and cucumbers.. It was pretty good...we found it to be way overpriced and doubtful if we will take the time to drive down there again...cutting corners is not a good thing...

Overdone tough meat, palm leaves on the table, service not professional. Unnatural behavior by the owner. Tourist trap.

We recently re-visited Oscar y Lalo, we had some friends that were leaving the next day and we wanted to go somewhere special. This is always my recommendation when we are close. Once again we were not disappointed. Virginia is very attentive and obliging. The restaurant has a beautiful setting. We had our 9 year old nephew with us and he was treated like royalty! Our meals were to die for, the Arrachera is out of this world and the chili rellano is the same. Thanks you again Virginia this place is a gem in the jungle!!
