Manning Park Lodge and restaurant now closed and in receivership. Up for sale. This is a beautiful lodge, quiet, filled with wild life in area and wonderful hiking trails. Lightening Lake is still open and one can go canoeing on this beautiful scenic lake. How long it will be closed is anyone's guess but it is far too beautiful to allow it to sit idle.014Magpie

Room Tip: Lodge closed however when open all rooms are quiet.

What a Winter Wonderland gem! This was our first visit to Manning Park, hoping to get out into the sticks but have a warm, cozy, quiet place to come home to after a day out in the snow. It was exactly what we hoped for! We stayed the weekend in one of the cabins which was clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you need. We hopped on and off the ski and snowshoe trails which are pretty much in your backyard. You can also drive down the picturesque road to get to more trails and lakes.
This place is unspoiled by the masses, a peaceful quiet place for some get-away time.
Really our only disappointment was that we aimed to downhill ski on the Monday around mid-december but were informed when we got there that the downhill slopes weren't operating during the work week as they weren't in full winter operational hours yet - only open on the weekends. No biggy, there's plenty of options anyways - snowshoeing, x-country, hot tubbing, skating, watching the snow blanket the ground from inside your cozy room...BUT, I recommend calling the resort prior to booking if you aim to downhill ski to make sure they are open!
The manager was so incredibly nice, he was very accommodating and added such a warm touch to our stay.
We have only good things to say about Manning Park Resort!

We just had an incredible few days up at Manning Park Resort in those gorgeous mountains. The skiing was amazing with light powder even this late in the year- end of March! Why does Manning resort seem to be such a secret? And so cheap! It is a lovely mountain lodge, and our room was SILENT and DARK. The pool and jacuzzi were perfect temperatures and not so much chlorine, the steam room went like crazy and the dry sauna was also nice. There is a game room with billiards, ping pong tables, shuffleboard and foosball, and a beautiful lobby with a big, true wood fireplace, which is a nice place to read. We got there at 11am and they let us have our room right away! The water is delicious and chlorine free and the air is wonderful. We had a good meal in the restaurant, and I couldn't drink enough water. I want to come back and explore the cross country trails as well. You're allowed to bring your dog in some of the cabins.

We went for a weekend trip and Manning Provincial Park was a lovely discovery.

Since it was a last minute booking, the price for our room was a little higher than I would have liked to pay. All the other rooms were sold out. If you can book early - it would be best. They have many reasonable rates. We arrived at noon and our room was available right away. The rooms were basic with a mini-kitchenette (microwave, fridge, coffee maker) and it was clean (didn't smell like cleaning chemicals or dust). The rooms need to be updated. The view from the room was lovely.

We stayed one night and didn't get any sleep because the guests in the room next to us were extremely loud when they returned from their night out. We had to call the front desk twice to complain. The staff were very understanding and apologetic and dealt with the situation immediately and efficiently each time.

The restaurant and pub were okay. Manning Park staff everywhere from the pub to the hotel to the park where always friendly. If you're looking for a simple getaway and plan to spend all your time outdoors, then it's okay for a weekend. This hotel is in a remote area with no cellphone service, and limited access to internet and tv. The surroundings are beautiful and very calming. Great for families.

This is our second trip to the Resort. We stayed in one of the cabins, which are rustic but cozy. All of your basics are provided - but if you are wanting to cook something special - you might want to bring your own pots/pans, especially a frying pan. The resort has a great indoor pool and hot tubs, which is great after a day on the ski hill. There are lots of trails around the resort for snowshoeing, with rentals available at the resort. Unfortunately, since our last visit the resort seems to be struggling a bit. Not too much available in the gift shop and the coffee shop wasn't open which was disappointing. The only down side is no matter when you arrive you will never get your room until 4pm. Even though you are an early arrival and they tell you they will get you in as soon as possible - they never do. Several frustrated customers milling around the desk waiting for hours for their rooms - we waiting from noon until 4 pm.

We went up for a 3-night mid week trip and had a fantastic time. This was only my second time skiing and I found the beginner's area at Manning to be a great place to practice. Because it wasn't too busy I didn't feel rushed and I had lots of room to work on my turns. The quality of the snow was great and I did better than I thought I would on the green runs. The staff on the ski hill was very helpful, and the shuttle bus drivers were extremely friendly and helped us with our ski gear - which was great because we were exhausted from all the skiing we did. The lodge and the bear's den pub were both great oo, and of course we loved the hot tubs. We will definitely be coming back again. :)

Okay, yes. The place is a little run down. But still, we had a blast. Our room was clean and quiet. Beds were great. The staff were VERY friendly and attentive. Both the restaurant and the pub were lots of fun. Simple food well done. Suggest bringing your own wine for the restaurant as they were out of much of their selection on a Sunday night. Again though, super staff and a great atmosphere. She enjoyed the pool and hot tub and wasnt too bothered by the quick walk across the open air to the pool building. I kept busy photographing the area because the snow and lighting were great. We were there to snowshoe and the trails and conditions were absolutely excellent. We stopped in at the downhill area and found 30 cms of new powder on a 175 cm base...and almost nobody on the hills. We were tempted to rent just to see what it was like to have a two-chair hill all to ourselves. So if you can get past that Manning isnt Whistler or Sun Peaks, this is a great destination for a good price. Of note to parents...lots of families were there when we were and the kids all seemed to be having fun. Also note if you choose the main building, there are no elevators.

Room Tip: We had 207 which was at the end of the floor. Quiet, nice light and pretty sunrises and moonrise ove...
