Okay, yes. The place is a little run down. But still, we had a blast. Our room was clean and quiet. Beds were great. The staff were VERY friendly and attentive. Both the restaurant and the pub were lots of fun. Simple food well done. Suggest bringing your own wine for the restaurant as they were out of much of their selection on a Sunday night. Again though, super staff and a great atmosphere. She enjoyed the pool and hot tub and wasnt too bothered by the quick walk across the open air to the pool building. I kept busy photographing the area because the snow and lighting were great. We were there to snowshoe and the trails and conditions were absolutely excellent. We stopped in at the downhill area and found 30 cms of new powder on a 175 cm base...and almost nobody on the hills. We were tempted to rent just to see what it was like to have a two-chair hill all to ourselves. So if you can get past that Manning isnt Whistler or Sun Peaks, this is a great destination for a good price. Of note to parents...lots of families were there when we were and the kids all seemed to be having fun. Also note if you choose the main building, there are no elevators.

Room Tip: We had 207 which was at the end of the floor. Quiet, nice light and pretty sunrises and moonrise ove...

Stayed with friends for a night over the Christmas holidays. I know the resort is in a bit of turmoil being in receivership - it's pretty obvious they aren't spending money right now. It was a pricey night for a very average room in the main buidling, a very average stay all together. One plus is that our room was very clean, especially the bathroom which is surprising considering the age. Not being skiers we just wanted to enjoy some forest trails, and found that it's really only set up for snow shoers and skiers....having to walk single file on the edge of the groomed trails was not great - so we cut it short. Even if we had had snow shoes on, it would have been the same thing - not comfortable to walk on an angle for any length of time and you're not able to chat with your friends as you go. Front desk staff were not terribly helpful, when we asked for a few extra pillows we were told first that they didn't know where they were kept - and then later, that he could only find one. I enquired about a stay next year over the holidays and got a "you should be so lucky" response. F&B staff were very nice though, especially the bartender in the pub and the servers in the restaurant. Here's hoping Manning gets some new investors because this beautiful spot deserves a decent hotel.

My family of 4 was planning a winter get-away so we booked a 2 bedroom cabin at the Manning Park Resort. Due to health reasons, only two of us were able to go so suffice it to say, there was plenty of room in the cabin.

The room itself has seen better days (or better years more like). The cabinets were peeling, the carpets were old, the bathroom has seen a lot of wear and tear. On the plus side, the double bunk bed room was very large (you could probably add a crib easily in this room). If you are looking for roof over your head with the convenience of a full kitchen, then this would suffice. Almost everything "worked" in the cabin, except a light over one of the bunk beds, and the remote control for the TV (mind you with 4 channels, there's almost no need).

The lodge had a nice fireplace with a computer for guests to use. The five times I had to check email, I only had to wait once. It was pretty quiet in the lodge. They offer wifi services for a pricey fee which can be accessed near the lodge and the restaurant. I'm not sure if I saw the wifi signal from my cabin.

The "Loon Lagoon" pool was also nice. Lockers here are $1 rent and towels are at the front desk so head over to that building first before going to the pool.

So for us, this hotel was convenient and provided us a simple base-camp for our winter activities but nothing more.

Room Tip: * In the first set of cabins, 16, 17 & 18 looked newer with flat screen tvs and a fire place...

Although we booked late we were lucky enough to get a night in one of the rustic cabins scattered behind the Lodge between X-mas and New Year's Eve. I found the cabin super nice, comfy and warm (they actually look better in real than on the lodge website - perhaps there were some recent updates - for example the carpet appeared brandnew). The cabins have one bedroom with a queen bed and another with two stacked beds for the kids (or friends that don't care about their bedroom). The only reason we'd be booking a room at the Lodge (instead of a cabin) next time is that there are only two of us and a room at the Lodge can be had at a lower price. The food and service at the restaurant were also excellent and we loved the rustic atmosphere (lots of wood, and a fireplace in the centre). There is also an ice rink and a pool on the property. Add to that a load of puffy powdery snow and a limited number of people (there are only so many rooms and cabins to be had and there is nowhere else to stay around here). Our night was quiet and relaxing - Wonderful!

Room Tip: Rooms at the Lodge are less in price than cabins, but cabins fit 4-6 people (ideally 2 adults with 2...

I was worried after reading some trip advisor reviews but we had a wonderful experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly - the shuttle bus driver, front desk staff and restaurant server. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin which was clean and cosy with a full kitchen. The snow conditions were perfect and it was great to relax in the hot tub after a great day of cross-country skiing, This a a fabulous place to experience Christmas and there were many families there enjoying skiing, skating, sledding and swimming.

The resort, located in a scenic provincial park, is rustic in decor in keeping with the natural setting. The brown bag breakfast is a nice touch and the nearby restaurant provides homestyle meals at reasonable rates. While the single server seemed to have been kept very busy with a number of patrons, service was provided in a friendly manner.

We were warned about the receivership, but are glad that this has not discouraged us to spend a night in this resort. The location and surroundings, the excellent dinner and the very helpful and kind staff have made our stay an unforgettably charming experience.
