“Very nice place, very nice people.”
Reviewed June 29, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We very much enjoyed staying at Firkin Cottage. We've already booked it again for Christmas, so I guess that says something. The kitchen, bathroom, main bedroom and living room are spacious. The bed, sofa and armchair were all comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The courtyard was delightful on the one evening when we were free to sit in it. Wifi worked well. Shops are 5 or 6 minutes walk away. We parked at the end of Damgate furthest from the town centre because it's unrestricted there. Both Pauline Ware, the owner, and Richard, her assistant, are very friendly and helpful.

Liked best: Warm evening with friends in the courtyard.
Liked least: Parking not quite convenient, but it's OK.

just spent three wonderful weeks in firkin cottage wymondham. warm and comfortable with everything we needed and more. comfortable bed, beautiful bed linen, well equipped kitchen with quality crockery, pots and pans. two minutes from shops where we could buy everything we needed.regular bus service to norwich and surrounding villages. will certainly come again.from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we cannot think of anything at all negative about our stay. pauline you couldn't have done any more for us. thank you for the wine and biscuits they were much appreciated . our stay was extra special with the birth of our granddaughter lily.

“Lovely cottage in a lovely part of the country”
Reviewed November 6, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Had a very warm welcome from Pauline. Cottage was immaculate. Nice and cosy. Didn't manage to make use of the Garden room, but can imagine it would be perfect in the summer for dining or just relaxing in. Local area has lots to offer too, do visit Thetford Forest if you get the chance and Pizzaeria Bellow in Attleborough about 10 mins away, superb Italian food.

“Five Star Cottage in delightful small Norfolk town”
Reviewed May 13, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Firkin Cottage was beautifully furnished to the highest standards. Of particular note was the Garden Room containing full dining equipment; we had all our meals there. The beds were very comfortable and the owner had provided for every need. She even met us at the railway station and gave us a tour of the town!
Being reliant on public transport was no problem, with frequent buses to Norwich and trains to Cambridge and Ely, as well as the nostalgic Steam Railway experience! We would recommend the Mad Hatter's teashop and Merv's bakery!

Liked best: The attention to detail.
Liked least: Would have liked a freezer compartment for ice cream, peas etc

Management Response
Jan 7, 2013
Thank you for your review. The owner has contacted us as they take all feedback seriously and value all comments received. They have advised that they have had work carried out regarding the floorboards - these have been re-varnished as a busy season had caused some damage however the gaps between them form part of the history of the property from when it was designed back in the 19th century. The owner has also advised that the sofa was purchased new in 2008 and they have not previously received any negative comments regarding its' condition.

The owner is sorry if you experienced problems with the TV signal and has advised that if you had notified her that there was a problem she would have sought to assist in any way possible. She has also confirmed that she does not advertise the property as having Wi-Fi available, nor does she advertise that there is private parking or a driveway. The owner is sorry for any upset caused regarding damage in the property and has advised that she only provided quotes for the repair following discussions that she had with you inside the property. The owner has previously received very good feedback and comments for the cottage and continues to do so, and is disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay as previous guests have done.
