Kia ora and WOW!! Thank you for your awesome review!! It's great to hear we were one of your highlights throughout your entire New Zealand stay!! It's great to hear from our visitors that we are achieving what we set out to achieve. Thank you for taking the time to come out here and visit us, and especially thank you for taking the time to provide us with your wonderful feedback!! Many thanks and the very best of wishes to you, From Nadine, Karl, Maurice & Whanau at Kohutapu Lodge
I stayed here as part of the stray bus tour and it was absolutely beautiful. The surroundings were so picturesque and relaxing, sipping wine on the swinging hammock while looking over the lake was one of my favourite moments in New Zealand.
The hangi food was AMAZING, I was so full but still had seconds. And it was really interesting watching the guys cook it.
The host was really friendly and welcoming and the mauri story telling was really cool too.
The accommodation was lovely, very new and fresh.
An absolute must-stay when in New Zealand!
Kia ora! Thank you for your amazing review, we are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay here with us at our beautiful lodge on the shores of Lake Aniwhenua! Thank you for sharing our food, our stories and being a part of our whanau (family) for the time you were here. Ka kite ano, Nadine, Karl & Maurice Toe Toe
My Stray tour bus stays here as part of the trip through the North Island. It was truly a high point of the tour. Nad and Morris and family have only recently opened this place as not only accommodation but also a true cultural experience. They have a vision and are passionate about it, always checking that everything is perfect for you. I am so glad we stopped here, and recommend everyone to also.
Kia ora! Thank you for your review and your awesome feedback! We are glad to hear you enjoyed your time here with us, our food, our stories and we loved that you even had a go an night time eeling off our jetting by the lake!! Unfortunately with living right by the lake, we do have a few bugs that are attracted to the lights and will go in the rooms if doors/windows are left open at night. We are looking to get nets up for the windows heading into the next summer season to prevent any trout flies in the rooms. Thank you once again for coming out to stay with us, and taking the time to hear our vision for the wider community and people of this region. All the very best! Warmest regards, Nadine, Karl & Maurice Toe Toe
I stayed here for a one night with Stray and it was just great! The family who owns this place was very friendly and you could feel how they enjoy their work and want to offer sustainable tourism. Hangi (traditional food) was so delicious!!! The activities you can choose were reasonably priced, I did eeling and it was cool. The only negative thing was that there were so many bugs in the cottage... Otherwise just perfect!
Kia ora! Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us, and thank you for sharing in our little piece of paradise, hearing our stories, enjoying our food and becoming a part of our family for the night! We loved that you even tried your hand at night time eeling off the lake side jetty also! Unfortunately with living right by the lake, we do have bugs at night which are attracted to the light, and will go into the rooms if doors and windows are left open. We are looking to get nets for the windows fitted for this summer season to prevent trout flies in the rooms. Thank you once again for visiting us here in paradise! With many thanks, Nadine, Karl & Maurice Toe Toe
Beautiful location with beautiful people, so welcoming and make you feel like part of the family, they're really passionate about what they do and trying to make a difference in the world! So peaceful I had the best nights sleep since I began travelling! Food was amazing, and they plenty to do, would love to go back!
Kia ora and WOW! Thank you so much for your kind review. Yes, we absolutely love what we are doing out here, and hopefully that resonates strongly throughout our experience and directly on to our visitors as well. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to come back to these tribal lands to start our tourism experience and believe that the benefits of tourism can create a positive ripple effect for the wider community. We love sharing our history, stories, food and activities we have on offer with our visitors. Thank you for sharing your holiday time with us in our little piece of paradise! Ka mau te wehi!! I only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer! The location is absolutely stunning set beside a beautiful lake. We even got to paddle a real maori waka (canoe). There is a genuine desire to welcome visitors as part of the "whanau" or family. The traditional "hangi" or maori meal baked in an earth oven was truly delicious and served in beautiful woven baskets. This is a really special place, run by very special people - I can't recommend it highly enough! Thank you Nadine, Morris, Karl and all the "whanau" for making us feel so welcome!
Kia ora! Thank you for your fantastic review!! It is wonderful to hear you felt like a part of our whanau (family) for the time you were here, and awesome to hear you enjoyed paddling the waka out on the lake - it certainly is a beautiful experience!! We absolutely love what we are doing out here, and it is great to hear you can feel the genuine, real experience that we are, and understand what we have on offer for our guests. Thank you once again for being a part of this journey - and for helping us make a difference out here at our place, in paradise. With very best wishes, Nades, Karl & Maurice Toe Toe
