“Worst hotel - Dirty rooms and rude staff!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2010

Just stayed at the Wangaratta gateway....DO NOT STAY HERE...
The room picture on the website is NOT what you get.
We were given old shabby rooms that had filthy floors and another rooms garbage left on our child's bed. Staff were rude and not helpful.
Contacted the owner about our nightmare hotel room and she could not care less.
Terribly disappointing for our family to experience this hotel that portrays itself as 4 1/2 star.
Our room was only a 2 star room.

Booked in Wangaratta for family gathering not expecting the lovely room we booked into. Was one of the newer king rooms, with comfortable king bed, very large room with everything you look for in a top hotel room. Nice pool area and buffet breakfast was good too, No complaints about this hotel.

Stopped over on the way back to Wollongong from Melbourne & stayed in one of their new King Rooms which was HUGE, and far better than a certain 5 star retreat in Hepburn Springs that we had stayed at the night before. All their staff were great, friendly and helpful with info on things to do in the area. If you stay here, eat in the motel too as the food was far better than usually associated with motels. We had picked it at random to break up the journey back home and really were impressed with the facilities for a motel. Very quiet, large pool and spa, gymnasium and strolling distance to parks, shops etc. We are definitely going to stay here again on our next trip to Melbourne and if you are a hotel, not motel, person it is worth looking at their web site first yourself. Couldn't fault anything, it was a nice surprise and great value for money.

I booked 3 nights and then happened to read a few reviews on this site. If I had of read them first ,concerning the noise around the pool.I would not have booked. So I was a bit worried about how peaceful our stay would be. I shouldn't have worried. There was no outside noise. We were so impressed with the place. Ate at the restaurant every night, buffet breakfast each morning. It was heaven. The staff were lovely, the rooms superb and the food......................................Excellent.
If you want to stay at a resort without the airfares to QLD try this place and their Dinner,Bed & Breaky package. It is a bargain.
We will be back.

Whilst passing by Wangaratta in the dead of the night on our way to Falls Creek, it became clear we'd done enough travelling for the day. The only 24-hour reception in town was at the Quality Inn Wangaratta Gateway. We stopped and, for $100, secured a room which was perfectly adequate as an overnight stop for two adults and two young children. What impressed me most about this property was that it was well-equipped, with modern decor and lounge areas, and immaculately clean. Unfortunately, the snow beckoned and we didn't have time to linger and enjoy the steaming outdoor spa and pleasant-looking pool area. Breakfast the next morning was a decent spread in a lovely restaurant and had us merrily on our way. A well-equipped hotel with very good facilities for more than an overnight stay - though I'm not sure what the region offers to tempt travellers to remain. Oh, and one more little thing - they clean the windscreen of your car for you overnight. That's a nice touch when you are hitting the road for many more miles the next morning.

  • Liked — Immaculately clean.
  • Disliked — Didn't stay long enough to judge.

We stayed here for one night over the Australia Day long weekend on our way to Canberra. We booked on the basis of the tripadvisor reviews and overall it was an okay stay. We ate at the hotel restaurant which was very nice indeed - we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal! Service was also very good and although the martinis were a bit on the stingy side, I can definitely recommend a meal here!
As for the room, it was quite small and we were located on the ground floor right next to the pool. The night we stayed was extremely hot so the pool was busy... very busy! In fact, despite the signs stating that the pool was closed from a certain hour, it was busy until the early hours and extremely noisy. At one point, as we walked to dinner, I was hit in the head with a ball which was being thrown around the pool by a large group of young guys - it was really raucous.
There was a lot of alcohol consumed by those in the pool area and the noise level was high for much of the night. We didn't complain as we knew it was hot but trying to sleep with the sounds of drunk teenagers right outside the door was a challenge.
We might stay here again in transit but we would definitely request a room as far away from the pool as possible!

This was a nice, clean, modern motel, in a central location in Wangaratta. The hotel had a nice looking pool and had electric blankets (which came in handy). We had a buffet breakfast included in the price, which was pretty nice. You can also get qantas frequent flyer points when staying there.

We stayed there for a weekend whilst visiting Milawa. I'm glad we stayed in Wang instead of Milawa, as Milawa is tiny.
