We read in Lonely Planet that this was one of the top restaurants in the South Island and happened to walk past so went in for dinner. Definitely weren't disappointed! The service was fantastic, although there were only 6 people in total in the restaurant :). The food was amazing, to start we had a white ball thingy on a spoon and we were told it was soup and to put the whole thing in your mouth and squash it onto the roof of your mouth....I wanted more!! My husband and I shared two entrees, crispy whitebait (which neither of us had had before but were convinced to try, when in rome as they say...) and the soup. Both were great and because we were sharing they split the soup up!!
I had the curry for mains which was huge and very good, my favourite was the crab curry! My husband had the steak and it was the best steak either of us had had in a long time.
We were both stuffed full but the chocolate cake was beckoning. Again we shared and the serve that came out was HUGE! We commented on this and they said, well there are two of you.
Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend. We also had our 9 month old in the stroller at the table and this was no worries.
