I've been here several times now, sometimes for coffee and cake and others for lunch. This review is about lunch. Four of us had booked a table about 48 hours ahead, and on arrival we were seated where we had requested - outdoors, under the awning. As forecast it was sunny and 24 degrees, no breeze. It turned out there is a section of awning that is just clear plastic (for winter sun I suppose), our table was directly underneath with no shade. All other tables occupied. Not a great start. Menus and water came quickly, the waiter was engaging and informative. The food here is always reliably very good and this visit was no exception. A fairly limited menu means the kitchen is able to cope well. Two salad mains and two pizzas (the latter attractively served on wooden platters) were all rated highly and plates left clean. The arrival of coffees illustrated flaws in the training of that waiter - he twice interrupted our conversation quite peremptorily with requests to know who had ordered what. Contrast to his earlier colleague, she stood to the side when talk was in progress. We finished and left earlier than intended because of sitting in the sun and starting to get burnt. The bill came to $200 for four, including a dish of "string" fries that might have come from McDonalds, 2 caramel slices from the dessert case (delicious) and a bottle of wine at over 100% markup. Too many issues in the above for a rating of Excellent, but I will go again.
