“this place has the wow factor!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2011

I feel very lucky that of all the wonderful accommodation available in Queenstown and Arrowtown we chose Millbrook- the place is just wonderful and, as soon as you drive through its gates, you know you’re in for a treat. We stayed in one of the inn-style rooms. The place is built to look like a little village with cottages- and we were in one of these “cottages”- with a front garden and a patio at the back overlooking the golf course. Inside was very spacious with a wonderfully inviting bed, a heavenly bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe (I want one at home!) We stayed here for 2 nights- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and had dinner there overlooking the lake. Wonderful wonderful wonderful- this is a very special place and I can’t praise it highly enough or its staff. The beautiful little town of Arrowtown is only a 2-minute drive away and has many lovely walks- we had great weather and enjoyed the river and walking around the town. Highly recommended!!!

We stayed at Millbrook Resort for almost a week in one of their villa units. It was like having our own fully-furnished apartment, with maid service daily! The unit was spacious, comfortable, and equipped with everything we could possibly want. The comfortably-furnished living room included a gas fireplace to take the chill off, a fully-equipped kitchen with top of the line appliances (even a dishwasher!) and plenty of cookware and serving pieces, coffeepot, toaster, hot water pot--all spotlessly clean. The very large bedroom opened into a huge modern bathroom. The living room and the bedroom featured French doors that opened onto a private patio. This formerly was a working farm, and the grounds maintain a bit of the former stonework; water features have been added to create a cozy atmostphere. All of this is surrounded by spectacular mountains just beyond the renowned golf course.

Service throughout our experience was excellent, and we would highly recommend this facility to anyone going to Queenstown or Arrowtown. Shuttle service is available to either city, and our only regret was that we only had a week to enjoy!

Based on the reviews on Tripadvisor we had some concerns about staying here. However, after spending 5 nights in a two bedroom cottage we were positively surprised and happy that we stayed in Arrowtown rather than Queenstown. The scenery is beautiful and it doesn’t really feel like a golf resort. (It almost feels like a small village). The cottage was actually pretty large and perfectly fine for two adults and two young children. Nice playground for the kids right outside our door, indoor pool –admittedly a bit cold- and plenty of space for them to run around. The staff at the front desk, –while friendly- could use a bit more knowledge about the region and what to do. The only sour note about our stay was our dinner at the Millhouse. The food was ok, though certainly not as good as Saffron (in Arrowtowon). The real issue was the English “sommelier” from Manchester who is very very keen on trying to shift the most expensive wines in the menu presumably to what he probably thinks are gullible tourists. What was initially downright humorous pretty quickly became just crass. Perfectly nice resort, just skip the Millhouse or at least ignore/bypass the "sommelier".

Thank you for choosing to stay at Millbrook and for your review. Sounds as though you had a great time at Millbrook and thoroughly enjoyed your stay. We encourage reviews of our whole resort and staff. I hope you enjoyed your dinner at The Millhouse, reviews on this restaurant are usually glowing so it's a shame you felt the service didn't meet the same level as the food, but it doesn't sound as though this ruined your experience at Millbrook. We hope to see you here again so you can give our Millhouse Restaurant another shot. Thanks again.

Stayed in a 2 bedroomed villa. Stunningly good accommodation. Huge bedrooms with very comfortable bed, massive bathrooms the same for both bedrooms, and a generous lounge/dining/kitchen area. But what should have been a five star experience was spoiled by a poor evening at the Millhouse restaurant, where the kitchen just could not cope with a table of 16 who ordered before us, and being unable to get a game of golf. The course had been booked out for a private tournament, with a shotgun start in the middle of the morning. Excuse me, 27 holes and you cannot accommodate your other guests until after 3pm. Very poor at a golf resort.

Hi, thank you for choosing to stay with us and for reviewing our property. It's a shame that although you said the property was stunning, you thought us only worth 3 stars. I'm sure you understand, January is one of our busiest months, and this January we were almost 100% full. Even though we have 27 holes, with a tournament taking 18 holes out of play, during peak season advance booking is still required on the golf course. As with other golf courses around New Zealand and the world, pre-booking is required to secure a spot. We do our best to accommodate in-house guests on the course and daylight hours in summer extend to after 10pm so an afternoon tee time is not usually a problem. All comments are taken on board and forwarded to our team. Thanks again.

This quiet and relaxing resort is located only 15 minutes from Queenstown and surrounded by beautiful scenery. It is a great place to unwind, play gold and enjoy good food. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and very helpful. Great place for a vacation!

This is a lovely resort, with beautiful rooms and a stunning setting. We stayed in a villa, with a French influenced design and modern twist. We particularly liked the under-floor heating in the bathroom, which came with a huge bathtub, separate shower and twin vanity units. The restaurants are good enough, but not world class. The food is cheap however so no complaints. The gym was not crowded and good, but again not great.

We only paid approx $NZ360 per night, which when converted to Australian dollars made the stayed extremely cheap. No where in Australia could such quality be had for such a cheap price. Conversely, the Millbrook was not as good as resorts in Asia where the service is far better and the price cheaper. For NZ however, we considered this to be high quality and would return for a longer stay in the future.

We stayed in this resort in October. The setting was beautiful. The surroundings remind me a bit of lake district in the UK. The room that we stayed in was massive and elegantly design, with a fireplace and a balcony. The service was great. There is a free shuttle provided to go to arrowtown and queenstown. The staff here were all very friendly. First class resort, first class service. The food was great. Love it. A golf buggy was used to transfer us from the reception area to your room. It also comes with a free laundry facility which is a plus. Cannot ask for more. Would definitely come back again. However would avoid back country shop in arrowtown.
