People who love good food cook good food and this small cafe in Arrowtown (recommended by a local) was a blessed discovery after a ghastly meal at Saffron the day before.
They have tastings for all the remakably delicious 'Provisions' chutneys made on site and shipped all over NZ (maybe the world??) and the coffee and cakes good.
And there is a charming garden setting to while away the time.
It's a bit hard to find, at the far end of the main street (away from the Chinese settlement) but worth asking directions to!
Nothing pretentious about the place but full of charm and heart.
and there is a nice blog review with pictures here that seems to say it all! http://crouchinggiraffe.blogspot.com/2010/07/my-newest-favourite-thing-provisions-in.html
