“A little slice of heaven in the Calvados!”
Reviewed March 20, 2016 for a stay in July 2015

Thank you, TripAdvisor, for helping us book and enjoy one of the most memorable vacations of our lives in the Normandy region of France in mid-July. This was the first time we have booked a home (rather than a hotel) totally online in a foreign country and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We are a mature couple who were traveling with another mature couple and we wanted to spend time exploring the Normandy coast and beaches at our own pace. Therefore, we looked for a home with two bedrooms AND with two full baths. Homes with more than one full bath in this region were next to impossible to locate. However, we happened upon this beautiful old barn-conversion on a working horse farm - and couldn't be happier. The host and his wife live on the property and have renovated two such barns on their large and beautifully landscaped farm. We communicated through email and by telephone, once we were in France. He speaks English; she speaks only French. Nonetheless, we communicated. The home is just as pictured and was perfect for our needs. One full bedroom and bath on the first floor, with two bedrooms and one full bath on the upper floor. The sofas are sleepers and could possibly accommodate children. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, large dining area, and comfortable living room. The summer weather is very temperate and cool so that we slept with the windows open at night and wore sweaters most days. We flew in and out of Paris and rented a car there. We visited Giverney on our way from Paris (a must!) and, using the vehicle's GPS, we arrived at the farm with no problem. During our stay, we shopped for groceries in the nearby town of Dozule and enjoyed sampling an array of local specialties. All of Normandy is easily accessible and a great daily outing from the farmhouse. There is no clothes dryer so the nearby laundromat in Dozule was more convenient for us. We would love to visit here again and if we do, we'll bring along a good, old-fashioned shower curtain. That's the only suggestion we have for this lovely home in the Calvados. We are so appreciative to our hosts for sharing their farm with us.

“Truly a delightful house in a wonderful part of France”
Reviewed October 23, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

My family spent the second week of our French holiday at Delightful house. It was very well equipped and centrally located to take in all that Normandy has to offer. The sea was only a 10 min drive away and all of the D Day attractions were within a 1 hour drive. The port of La Havre was only 40Km away. The owner was very welcoming and communication prior to arrival was great. We would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend it.
