Visited this place on Easter Sunday and the deal was to drink you must have a main meal. No sweat as we were recommended by a friend to try their ribs. So we rocked on up with 2 families, one baby and one 4yr girl. We sat near the bar. Atmosphere is nice, quite dark inside but the back bar had a nice view of the skate park and beach. Quite surprised that Browns Bay is a nice cool place to hang. I tasted 2 beers from their menu, the 309 and the little armoured one. My mate had the dirty gringo and the 309. 309 was a pleasant amber ale and had good hop kick to it. Some sweet honey tones coming through but not much. A very easy drinking beer. The little armoured one was a stronger ale, smoky and stronger. Not bad but i felt all their beers had a hint of too much hops. Just me.
We ordered the rib main and a seafood platter. The ribs came out and the meat was so tender, fell off the bone almost. The sauce was delicious and not too thick and sticky, some people just slab it on, but no, this was just nice. Thick, chunky fries, yum.
Seafood platter was so so. Prawns were ok. Fish kebabs were too fishy.
Overall if i went there only for the ribs, i would be in heaven. Good job guys, keep it up. good to know there are still micro brewers out there making good beer and grub.
