“Beer & Ribs...the best combo....ever!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Visited this place on Easter Sunday and the deal was to drink you must have a main meal. No sweat as we were recommended by a friend to try their ribs. So we rocked on up with 2 families, one baby and one 4yr girl. We sat near the bar. Atmosphere is nice, quite dark inside but the back bar had a nice view of the skate park and beach. Quite surprised that Browns Bay is a nice cool place to hang. I tasted 2 beers from their menu, the 309 and the little armoured one. My mate had the dirty gringo and the 309. 309 was a pleasant amber ale and had good hop kick to it. Some sweet honey tones coming through but not much. A very easy drinking beer. The little armoured one was a stronger ale, smoky and stronger. Not bad but i felt all their beers had a hint of too much hops. Just me.

We ordered the rib main and a seafood platter. The ribs came out and the meat was so tender, fell off the bone almost. The sauce was delicious and not too thick and sticky, some people just slab it on, but no, this was just nice. Thick, chunky fries, yum.

Seafood platter was so so. Prawns were ok. Fish kebabs were too fishy.

Overall if i went there only for the ribs, i would be in heaven. Good job guys, keep it up. good to know there are still micro brewers out there making good beer and grub.

Visited on a busy Friday. Good atmosphere but very noisy inside. Large portions. Waitress advised us to share a platter. Good call!
Great choice of beers. Service was good even though very busy. Prices ok

“Huge portions”
Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

Visited this place twice whist in Brown's Bay. Staff could have been friendlier, but it's was always busy so I guess try we're too busy serving customers rather than being friendly with then. On our first visit a friend advised how big the portions were so my partner and I ordered a "meat paddle" between us and we are so glad we took his advice. The food was excellent and prices were reasonable. Like most places in New Zealand the wine prices were a bit steep.

Both times we were in the place was very busy, so if going for food it might be advisable to book a table. Definately recommend this place and will return on our next visit

“The place to visit in Browns Bay”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Being a Pinot Noir drinker I can't rate the beers.. But a hip place to be in Browns Bay and all reviews of the food are good. Great place to meet after work for one and the outdoor seating and views of the sea just gorgeous. Caters well for groups but quite noisy so not ideal for that quiet romantic night! Definately worth a visit, beer brewed on site, or looks that way! Staff bright and bubbly and it has character which is great.

“A Fun atmosphere”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

This is a great place to have fun with your friends. The beer comes in a serving platter, so you can taste all the different kinds that they brew. Food was pretty good too.
