Owner description: Spectacular all year - see this area from the ground in the dry season, and from the air in the wet season. The Jim Jim Area is only accessible by 4WD during the dry season. Visitors can explore the spectacular and challenging walks or take a boat shuttle ride to Twin Falls over crystal clear waters (charges apply). Scenic flights are also very popular, and allow visitors to see the spectacular Jim Jim Falls, which are in full flow only during the wet season

“Great walk to a lovely pool”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

Really enjoyed the rock climbing to the falls and the cool pool at the end. Go past the first beach part where everyone stops and head to the falls. Most people don't seem to make it this far so it's less croweded.

“Absolutely worth a visit if you have 4x4”
Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

Definitely a 4x4 track into Jim Jim Falls itself. The walk to the Plunge Pool is quite difficult in places as you have to climb rocks, but a clear pool at the base of the fall is worth a quick dip, with spectacular rock walls around you. The 2hr climb to the top of the Falls is worth it, although very strenuous climb, but the view from the top of the fall is awesome and to swim in the crystal clear water and lay on the white sand is lovely. The campsite itself is excellent. Not a huge place, fits a dozen or so campers. There are designated campsites with campfires and all within close walking distance to the ablution block which is kept clean, tidy and well stocked with toilet paper & hand towel. Overall a definite place to visit in Kakadu.

“An oasis”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Visiting in August means that there is very little water coming over the falls. The walk in there is quite strenuous in that there is boulder hopping, and ledge walking, but the swims in the plunge pool and the beach pool are magical.

“Sheer beauty”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Our visit was at the very end of July, the dry season, so there was very little water cascading from the falls. It didn't matter, however, as the place is just so beautiful. A 4 WD vehicle is an absolute must. There's a very long drive on a corrugated road and then a very challenging final 10k on a track. Not for the faint hearted! Make sure you have a driver who feels comfy negotiating some quite tough terrain. Having said that, great fun!! Towel and swim wear essential. The beach below the falls is quite unreal. It looks as if it's man made. It isn't. Millions of years of sandstone erosion. This is just a very special place........

“Do not miss it....”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

The 4WD track to get there is excellent. The view and the swim at the end are even better. Dont go to Kakadu without doing Jim Jim and Twin Falls...
