Owner description: The Nourlangie Area features stunning rock art galleries and impressive views from Gunwarddehwardde lookout of Kakadu's escarpment and Nourlangie Rock.During the dry season you can learn more about the park's ancient heritage from ranger talks at the galleries, or enjoy a walk and relaxing picnic at Anbangbang Billabong.

Incredible rock art here. Great parking and pathways to all sights. Ranger talks here also in dry season, check local guides for times.
We climbed up one of the lookouts. Absolutely incredible esp as we only realized on the way back down we had climbed right to the top of the hill rather than where the sign mentioned the lookout was not halfway up. Definitely only for the able bodied and fit tho..but u are well rewarded with not only the views but the incredible rock art up there aswell. Can't remember the name of the place as it was a long name..but it was on the turn off before Anbangbang billabong :)

Worth a visit but only if you are fit. There is a walk of about three kilometers which is uphill on the way. Temps can reach 35 degrees and it is very humid. It is signed as wheelchair accessible but in my opinion this is not true. Apart from the distance and steepness there are also three sets of steep steps.

2 areas of rock art with easy access to car parks - not as crowded as at Ubirr with clearer & more striking art (some have been restored).
We did the 12km Barrk walk which had an initial 6km climb up and down Nourlangie rock (300m vertical climb approx) on narrow challenging overgrown trail, sometimes scrambling on hands and knees which was fun (need to be mildly fit and not too fat- narrow rock passage). However we were the only people on this track and felt insecure, partic when we saw a venomous snake sun baking on the track. Have to take care to follow marker to marker as they are not always obvious and it'd be v easy to get lost. Great scenery and variable terrain. Took 4 hours inc lunch stop (brochure says 6hours).

A short, yet interesting walk on one's own. Half way through we joined up with a private guided walk and then a public guided walk. I recommend you join the guided walks as you learn so much more this way.

We loved the rock art, the views were amazing and Nourlangie is so well cared for. Nothing to dislike about this beautiful place.
