Cooinda Lodge Kakadu
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We stayed here on the 27th and 28th of December and loved it. The pool was fantastic the only down side is the places are really close together and on our first night other guests partied until well into the morning keeping us awake. They should really have a cut of time for people partying as not to disturb other guests

Good Morning and thank you for taking time out to write a review about Gagudju Lodge Cooinda.

We are pleased to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay with us.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the noise issue that you faced on the first night of the stay. We most certainly do not permit late night parties in the lodge area where other guests can be impacted. Please contact one of our Guest Experience Managers if you come across any of these issues during your next stay with us.

I do hope that you managed to cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong during the Green Season. Wetlands look stunning during this time of the year.

Thank you once again for your valuable feedback and we will look forward to having you back here in the coming year.

Happy New Year!

Best Regards

The Gagudju Lodge Cooinda is in a terrific location! It was super convenient for us because we did the river cruise early in the morning and we were picked up from the lodge; it was only a few minutes to the boat!
We found the rooms were ok, they had everything we needed but there were lots of empty rooms and the other guests & us were all very close to each other. The close proximity meant it was rather noisy & we lacked privacy.
The pool near the canteen was beautiful :) much warmer & glam compared to the smaller pool.
The food was awesome but I got eaten by Mosquitos. It would've been awesome if they were mosquito coils or if we could've had the option to eat inside. The inside dining area was closed both nights we were there which was disappointing. I would've loved to escape the Mosquitos & be in sit conditioning!
All in all, it was a good place to stay.

Good Evening and Thank you for such an informative review.

Gagudju Lodge Cooinda is definitely located in the heart of Kakadu, with all attractions of the park highly accessible. We are the closest full service accommodation provider to Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls and as you mentioned, only 5 minutes away from the Yellow Water Billabong (home of many different birds and crocodiles).

Lagoon Pool at Cooinda is for sure one of the highlights of the place and we are pleased to hear that you got to relax by the pool at Cooinda.

Thanks for your comment about providing mosquito coils and opening the indoor dining area. We will take your valuable feedback on board in the coming year.

Happy New Year and once again thank you for your great feedback.

Best Regards

My wife and I spent a single night here in mid-October, in order to take the Yellow Waters cruise the following dawn (I have submitted a separate review regarding the Yellow Waters Cruise). We were most satisfied with the accommodation - spacious, modern and clean. Reasonably good value for money, considering the location - a lot more economical than the Gagadju Holiday Inn at Jabiru which our travel agent first booked us into until we corrected her, specifying that it was the LODGE we wanted because of the Yellow Waters Cruise. Very nicely laid out complex. We enjoyed a swim in the smaller of the two pools, and it was only when we went to dine at the outside restaurant that we discovered the larger, ingeniously designed swimming pool, with jaccuzi, etc. Good although fairly pricey food - I have submitted a separate review about the restaurant.

My partner and I stayed for a night during our trip through Kakadu. We did the dawn Yellow Water cruise, which was simply spectacular and a must do. Check in was smooth and the staff very helpful giving information about nearby walks.
The room was spacious with ample room for bags and hanging clothes. Lots of bench space for all your gear and a large fridge to keep your drinks cold. Bathroom was also large with a skylight over the shower providing good natural lighting. Surrounded by lush gardens, the lodge has two pools to choose from, a little walk to the 'Home billabong' for a bit of wildlife spotting, and a large outdoor bistro. However, the meals are terribly overpriced and well below average - even the chips were horrible. But the drinks were good and not too expensive. You really don't have any choice as there is nothing else for 50kms.
Breakfast was pretty good, though only a small selection to choose from. But for me, baked beans on toast and fresh fruit is heaps, and bacon and eggs and cereals should be sufficient for most.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but if we come back again, we would self-cater and do our own BBQ.

Good Evening and Thank you for such an informative review.

We are very proud of our facilities and service that we offer you when you stay with us and our staff love hearing that your stay with us was memorable.

In regards to the quality of food in the Bistro, please except my apologies for not meeting our usual standard. I will personally speak with our Executive Chef to ensure that the quality is consistent.

Did you get the chance to visit Warradjan Cultural Centre during your visit? It is a great place to find out interesting information about the local indigenous people, culture and community.

To top off a fabulous review, you have also provided some great photos. Thank you very much for sharing.

Wishing you all of the best for the future.

We stayed 2 nights here. Rooms were neat and tidy and everything worked. Food was good, a bit costly, but you have to remember you are in the middle on nowhere and there is a captive audience. Staff were all nice and friendly and very helpful.

Thank you for your valuable review.

Our staff love hearing about how guests have enjoyed their time with us and in particular how they have enjoyed there trip to Kakadu National Park.

We share all guests reviews during our monthly hotel briefing meetings. It gives our teams a great sense of achievement.

We are fast approaching the Green Season in the Top End. Compared to the Dry Season the Green Season is beautiful as Kakadu National Park is full of colour. The electrical storms are a thrill to watch and Yellow Water billabong is even more spectacular.

Did you get the chance to capture any great photographs whilst you were with us? If you did please share them with us on the Gagudju Dreaming Facebook page.

Our family spent 2 days at Gagudju in late October. My wife and I had a cabin while our 2 adult daughters camped in a tent. Facilities were good and all staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The swimming pools were good and the water was reasonably cool given the 40 degree outside temperatures. Rooms wre fairly basic but comfortable and, very importantly, the air conditioning worked well. Overall a very pleasant and informative stay.

Make sure to take your own food as prices are VERY expensive. Our friends bought a steak and it wasn't cooked properly and the mash potatoe was still frozen. Another group that was there had also complained about the quality of the food.
