It's worth, after all. The hotel is designed in a crocodile shape, which is interesting, but it's useless to take some photos because it only appears as crocodile from air-view. The room was clean and neat, you can sleep comfortably there.

What to say... everything was perfect with this hotel but the price on the menu in the restaurant. The room was perfect, so tidy, neat, standard decoration, great bathroom. I slept like a baby in this bed. We decided to stay over in Jabiru because it has everything you need on a short stay, gas station, little supermarket, an small airport to get a short flight to see jim jim and twin falls from the plane. We went there during winter, so there are'nt any crocodiles, it is the best period i think, eventhough we still saw some of thos reptiles on a boat cruise close to jabiru. There are some realy nice aboriginal sites, lots to discover on there culture. For the birds lovers, there is a boat cruise and some rivers where you can watch them as well. When wandering around, you must have a 4by4 drive because of the unpaved roads.

When visiting Kakadu, and enjoying a wonderful day visiting around, the room was so welcoming because of its comfiness.

Room Tip: a room not too close from the restaurant area, to not have all the noise of the people going in/out.

Most likely the best hotel in Kakdu NP and an excellent choice, when staying overnight. Hotel is designed as crocodile, you enter through its jaws, have dinner in the neck and sleep in its belly. The rooms are spacious, well kept and clean. Staff is friendly and will provide ideas for sightseeing or book you for various tours (be smart and book the Yellow Water tour at 16:30, which ends at sunset - quite an unforgettable experience).
The reataurant again seems to be the best in the park. We ignored the "all you can eat" buffet, went "a la card" and were not disappointed: excellent meals and a good selection of wines and beers at reasonable prices.

It is a good option to stop in Jabiru while visiting the Kakadu.
The Holiday Inn has all the facilities needed and the rooms are quite large although a bit dated and a refurbishment wouldn't hurt.
I had wi-fi access and breakfast included which was a good deal...the lady at reception at first said it was not possible I had both included at that price! Obviously she apologized when she realized it was possible.
Actually the food at the restaurant was nice but we ordered a la carte as the buffet food didn't look appealing...
We were on the first floor....beware there are no lifts so we struggled to take our suitcases upstairs...we arrived at 7pm and at that time there was no hotel staff assigned to help guests with their suitcases which I thought it was strange as they don't have any lifts...Ground floor might be a better option if you don't want to carry your bags up the stairs...! But you then might have an issues with bugs and insects as it's in Kakadu after all!
Breakfast was just ok for me.
In general, I recommend this hotel.

For an American, hotel prices in Australia seem expensive. Very expensive. And then you get to a place like Kakadu, where hotels are scarce, and they get even more expensive!

Fortunately, though, this property is part of the Holiday Inn chain, so if you have loyalty points in their frequent stay program, you can stay for free. And since the hotel doesn't require that many points -- compared to the high room rates -- it's a good deal.

The hotel itself has very good location. It's in the small mining/tourist town of Jabiru, which is oddly located in the heart of the national park. You can avail yourself of some of the services of the town, like a couple of restaurants, gas, groceries and a bakery. The grocery store is expensive, though, so I'd try to stock up on whatever you need before getting to the park. The bakery is also expensive, but they have long hours, and a meal there will be only a fraction of the cost of eating at the hotel (although I thought the hotel's restaurant prices were only high, not crazy -- if you weren't feeding a whole family like I was, you might find the cost acceptable). Pizza from the bakery is pretty good.

Rooms are "Holiday Inn quality" -- I'd say 3 to 4 stars. As a platinum member, I received free internet -- a rarity in Australia. I liked the ground floor rooms that opened up to the attractive pool area, but if you're skittish about insects (like small ants in the bathroom), you might prefer being on the second floor.

On Wednesday evenings, there's a free welcome party for hotel guests with an open bar and some limited (but tasty) snacks. On Friday morning, if you go on the official park service walk that leaves from the hotel, you can eat at the breakfast buffet for $10 (a deal because the regular price is almost 3x that).

If you can use your reward points to stay here, you will be completely satisfied. If you have to pay cash money at their nose-bleed room rates, you'll have a tough call to make. If not for location, I would say the room rates would be about $130. You do need at least one night in the park to make the drive worthwhile, and 2 would be better Make sure you see the tide change at Cahill Crossing for the excellent crocodile viewing.

We found this hotel to be excellent. We stayed for three nights and did four tours in all. The room was spacious and well appointed. The air conditioning was fine, and much needed. The restaurant was friendly and efficient. The crocodile has to be seen to be understood. It would be good if there was a lift to take baggage upstairs. There is a staff operated lift but the staff we spoke to did not seem too keen to operate it. The bathroom was fine, too. The tour guide found us easily at the front of the hotel at the right times.
