They said it was not normal weather to be wet still at this time. The Jim Jim and Twin Falls routes were not open yet (late May), so we went to Gunlom and Maguk. These were still good, and we saw the others on a flight.
The tour started a little late (I think the first group ran late for pick-up in Jabiru).
We drove down to Gunlom first. Stopped at a good termite mound and learned a lot about them. Very interesting and a good break from the drive.
The 4wd to Gunlom was long and rough. We saw wild horses (donkeys) and a dingo on the way.
Lots of folks at Gunlom. Did the hike (it is a hike) to the pools at the top of the falls. It is well worth the hike. The non-hikers stayed at the pool at the bottom.
We had lunch after coming down. Then the ride back to the main road and then to Maguk.
Maguk is a good walk - no hike but a rough trail over slippery sandy rocks, sand, and water. The pool is deep and not crowded.
The ride back was quiet, as most people were sleeping. We saw more wild horses, and a dingo near a dead water buffalo.
A great time even without Jim Jim Falls.
