Just got back yesterday.. Stayed there from November 13-20. I must say the Hotel was beyond beautiful. Although seems like we went towards the end of the rainy season, we eneded up with only one afternoon of rain which lasted an hour and back to 92 degree weather it went. Def hands down the Steakhouse was the best. Do bring lots of sunscreen because buying it in the resort costs about 30 dollars. Also bring bug spray( very important) The food was good ( buffet for breakfast was the best) The staff was very energetic ; full of life and PURA VIDA was all i heard plus my pleasure. A must to do is stop by the MONKEY BAR ( Rosa is an amazing cook and the place is super cheap) its a simple walk down on the beach . The only thing i disliked was that everything shut down at 12am. Me and my boyfriend would walk over to the other resort to hit the Sports bar which was open 24 hours and drink thier after midnight. But other then that it was simple an amazing vacation.

P.S the rooms are to die for!

Room Tip: We booked the garden view which was quieter due to the ocean view ones were directly above the enter...

Wow what an amazing experience! The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, and the staff was as well lol! Amazing service, everyone was working their hardest to please the guests. The entertainment was spectacular, although it was too hot for the dancers. I felt bad for them, some were drenched in sweat. There needs to be some air conditioning on the stage for them! We walked along the beach and saw some monkeys by the "Monkey Bar" down the road. Also saw lots of crabs, iguanas, puffer fish, and sea turtle nests. My husband and I loved Costa Rica, we didn't want to come home! Pura vida!

This hotel has been great. Unfortunately, the tours we booked thru Funjet and CAT tours ruined parts of our vacation. The tour directors think it is completely acceptable to delay tours to add people to the bus for transport over the Nicaraguan boarder, even if that means sitting on the side of the road close to dark waiting for a taxi to arrive. Our second tour required a three drive each direction to zipline in Arendal. We were told upon arrival at the park that there had been an accident so we were not permitted on the zipline or on the gondola/sky tram. We were instead taken a short hike and the hot spring portion of our trip was extended by 1 1/2 hours. No beverages were provided other than a small bottle of water on the bus. CAT tours would not provide a full refund stating that we had simply taken a different tour and would only refund the difference between what we had paid for and the tour they decided we would take. Although the gondola was open before we left the park, our tour operator did not acknowledge this or even give us any options. Save your money and book with the guys on the beach. At least by going thru them you will have some say so if the trip changes instead of being directed around like a bunch of young kids and being told what you are doing next without regard to what you would prefer.

I like the smaller resorts because typically they are very attentive but I have to say that the Riu Palace in Costa Rica went above and beyond. The staff in every area of the hotel was exceptional and the one phrase that I heard throughout my stay was "My Pleasure". I would definitely recommend Riu Palace to my friends and family because I know they would not be disappointed.

Just got back from 7 days in beautiful Costa Rica at the wonderful Riu Palace. Amazing hotel, fantastic food, wonderful beach and unbeatable service. Would Highly Recommend this vacation to anyone!! Saw lots of Honeymooners, older couples and our kids had a great time being included and being spoiled. Room was great considering we were only there to sleep. Was very impressed with my first All Inclusive Experience, and made some friends with staff that gave a little Down Time from the kids. Completely safe hotel and beach, and would recommend Daily Tours to enjoy Costa Rica's natural attraction. Will definately return!!

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms towards the beach made easy pool access in the mornings and for Siesta Time

Stayed from 6 - 13 November 2013 and we had a wonderful time. The staff and the grounds were incredible. Everywhere you go you see staff busily maintaining the entire hotel to keep it in top shape. The pools were beautiful and there were plenty of deck chairs for everyone. There are bars all over the property, including a swim up bar at the pool.

Our room was great and faced the mountains and we could see the ocean from our balcony.

The service staff was very attentive extremely friendly at all of the bars and restaurants. All of our requests were quickly and cheerfully addressed.

The gym is on the small side, but OK. The casino was very tiny and the crowds were small.

There are four theme restaurants (Italian, Japanese, fusion, and a steak house) and a buffet on the property. The buffet was excellent and the food delicious. The theme of the buffet changes each night with different regional cuisines featured. We really enjoyed the steak house and the Itailian restaurant. Reservations are required at the four theme restaurants and the reservation systme was the only issue during our stay.

The hotel shares a beach and grounds with the RIU Hotel Guanacaste and RIU Palace guests have access privileges at both properties.

I would return here in a heatbeat, to Costa Rica and the RIU Palace.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are well positioned to include a view of the courtyard, the ocean, or the ocean. R...

Travelled Nov 9-16 2013. Stayed in room 4003 facing mountains. Enjoyed mornings with great coffee out on balcony listening to birds and monkeys in the hills. I wouldn't pay for ocean front - we loved the view and sounds facing the mountains. Hotel was immaculate. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Never an issue getting a lounge chair. Bar service by the pool was frequent without being annoying. Food was fresh, tasty and varied. A la carte restaurants weren't all open b/c of low season but we did try Krystal and The Steakhouse - both very good. Rooms were well appointed, modern looking and never humid. Loved the shower. Impressed with environmentally conscious choices for lighting and A/C in rooms (card activated lighting and A/C only worked when balcony door was closed). Entertainment crew was energetic and talented (evening shows were quite good). Daily activities if you wanted to take part (staff encouraged you to join but didn't force you to if you declined): kitchen tour, pilates, yoga, water aerobics, darts, mini golf, frisbie toss, zumba, latin dance classes, etc. Kitchen staff had special events poolside: bbq, tacos, fresh coconut drinks, fresh fruit cups, etc. It did rain almost every day but only for short periods and at times was a welcome relief to the heat of the sun. It was surprisingly not humid and we didn't notice any bugs. All in all a great experience. I'm a consistent RIU Palace guest and have stayed at a number of Palace properties - this one did not disappoint. Thank you RIU for another great vacation.

Room Tip: Resort is located a fair distance from the water's edge and there are a number of trees along th...
