Visited for lunch and the three of us opted for the set menu - just under £15 a head for three courses.

Good ambiance. Good service.. Great pub setting in a lovely village.
Food somewhat disappointing. Smallish portions (the cheese board desert was a bit of a joke with a minute sliver of cheese but ample biscuits)

Fish well cooked. Sausage and mash a let down. Surely for the price they could have come up with a couple of real juicy "farmhouse" sausages rather that what seemed to be a couple of thin Tesco "everyday value" type and a spot of rather tired gravy...

Wine list good although we settled for mineral water.

Overall a pleasant enough experience but this is basically a village pub so be a little more generous with the portions, please!.

We recently visited the The Black Horse in Fulmer for a 50th birthday celebration, we loved the cosy bar and open fire , staff were friendly and welcoming .We were a large group of 10 couples over 2 tables , despite this our food all came out together and was excellent quality . The waiting staff were knowledgeable and accomodating to all our needs . Toilets were clean and modern all in all a great evening

Food was quite good.
Olives excellent
side orders excellent
Steak very good
Duck under cooked.
Chips excellent
Other potatoes not so good
Deserts very good.
Being a pub the wine list is pretty good,
Ginger beer was Schwepps which is not good, there are some much better brands about.
Coffee OK
Ambience very nice apart from women with very shrill voices that leave my ears in agony.
This restaurant was very crowded and this was a Thursday evening, so others must think it very good.
Overall the bill was a bit high but this is a wealthy area.

A fairly decent Sunday roast beef lunch but the pudding totally let down the meal. Our Coconut parfait (ordered by 3 out of the 4 guests) failed to impress - an absolute distinct lack of 'coconut' with a slight scraping of tasteless pineapple sorbet which had turned to water by the time it hit our table, so we never saw the sorbet!
Our waitress had not bothered to check how our meal or pudding were – and when we mentioned the disappointing pudding when the plates were taken away we didn't receive an apology or explanation. Finally a different waitress who took our payment explained that the pudding was 'coconut flavoured'; she then went on to back-peddle by making unnecessary conversation about where we were from... not sure if our money was any different coming from Uxbridge or Twyford. But pudding still remained disappointing and unresolved.
We've had better meals here before pre-refurb!
Could do better on the pudding front and improve on service. Will NOT be going back.

Stopped here for a pub lunch. Delightful place they has been beautifully restored but has managed to keep the charm of a traditional English pub. Great food presented well. Will definitely return!
