“The Real McCoy !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

I was recommended this pub by a good friend and a great recommendation it was too. I went on a Thursay lunchtime and chose from the 2 course fixed price menu at £12.50. The first course I selected was a starter of seared scallops and the main was a venison sheperd's pie. Both dishes were quite superb and cooked to perfection. I was slightly concerned the food might not of been to this standard given the price......I need not have worried.
The atmosphere was warm, the pub's decor gorgeous and the service genuinely friendly.

“Country pub worth travelling to!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Went there for lunch on a Monday. Food was fantastic, the service was great and very good value for money. The new owners have given the place a new lease of life and I look forward to going back there for dinner or dare I say it to have a beer in the garden when summer comes! The place was buzzing on Monday lunch time so must be good. Will even consider turning up early doors for a coffee and a croissant.

“An excellently cooked piece of beef ruined by the rest of the plate.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

The pub is clean and friendly with a good atmosphere, dishes are around £14 - £16 for a Sunday lunch, portion sizes are quite small and drowned in gravy (suggest you ask for it seperate) beef was excellent, potatoes and Yorkshire were adequate, vegetables were pretty inedible, good friendly service though.

“A wonderful british pub”

One of my favourite pubs in England. Small, humble, very old and very classily maintained. A beautiful building, great food set in a lovely area to explore.
