Spent two nights here, in two different rooms. Rooms were very roomy and comfortable, especially for the price. Location is fantastic for getting around Auckland, near a train, easy to get on the motorway, and directly down Remuera Rd to Auckland city. Free and unlimited Wifi, though reception was a bit spotty in the upstairs area. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Downstairs only if you require wifi in your room.

We liked our large old style room which seemed to be in keeping with the exterior appearance and the entry hallway. We liked being within walking distance to Remuera Village which has a couple of good restaurants and pub.The staff were also helpful and there was an overall impression of tidiness and cleanliness.
However, the nice character timber mouldings in our room attract dust and it showed in places.
As stated in other reviews the bathrooms are very small by today's standards but were kept very clean.
We had a small car, but still found the parking very "tight".

Spent one night - had to park on the street due to parking lot upgrades (no mention of this when I booked on the phone). The room smelt heavily of smoke and had I not been so tired would have looked for alternative accommodation. I certainly would not class it as a "luxury" hotel, and would not stay again.

We booked four nights at this hotel as it looked so good online, seemingly just our sort of place, comfortable, with character, without being too upmarket. We booked the largest front room but were so disappointed. The smell was the first thing we noticed (the window had been propped open with a reel of tape!). We have never walked out of accommodation before but after a look around the room we knew we just couldn't stay there. The toilet was really dirty and there was a thick layer of dust under the bed and other furniture where the cleaners hadn't bothered to do a proper job. We had a lot of trouble getting our money back (they had asked for payment in full before showing us the room - big mistake on our part). It was only when I went back into the room to take photos of the dirt that they agreed to a refund. They then insisted I deleted all the photographs off my phone. A really bad start to my 60th birthday treat but we ended up at the best B&B ever in Devonport (The Peace and Plenty)so all good in the end.

We booked a room for 3 nights on booking.com. When we arrived, we were really disappointed with the room. The room was small and the bathroom was tiny! There was literally only room for a toilet, tiny sink and shower cubicle! When we asked to change rooms, the man at reception told us we should have booked a Master Suite. But nowhere on the booking was it mentioned what type of room it was. Anyway, as they were full, they let us change rooms the next night and pay an extra $20 for the upgrade! This was much better. Large room and large bathroom! For the 3rd night, we had to change rooms again but we got another large room. This hotel is advertised as luxury. The reception area is lovely but the rooms are just ok. I would book the most expensive rooms to get value for money! The staff were very accommodating. The location is good and not far by car to the city centre.

We stayed here after a horrible experience at an accommodation around the corner (Mount Hobson House, would never recommend this place!!) and this boutique hotel had one room available at a cheaper rate than what we were paying at the mount Hobson house. We had a large room to ourselves with a jacuzzi spa and comfy bed. Thank you for taking us last minute! Unfortunately I rang them several times and no one picked up so went there personally to see if they had a room left and the staff were siting in a room outback not answering phones :( other than that it was fantastic!

What a beautiful hotel! We hired all 10 rooms for my 40th. The people couldn't have been anymore hospitable. They even gave me a discount and a present! We used there dining area for our party after a day at the Ellerslie races. Each room is named and has its own special qualities. I highly recommend staying at The Devereux and if we are needing accommodation in Remuera, this will be the hotel we stay in. Thanks for making my 40th perfect. Shelley Evans

Room Tip: For the small difference in price, treat yourself and stay in a Master suite.
