“Definitely worth a visit - yum!!”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

The lady who welcomed us spent a lot of time explaining the tasting room experience and certainly seemed to know her stuff. We ended up purchasing a few things, but that was to be expected. Could have spent a lot more besides.

Delicious drizzles, dukkah butter, oils & olives. I loved it all. Picked up some great gifts. Hope I can part with them.

“Great products and worth a visit even if you don't like olives.”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We visited the Olivery on the recommendation of relatives who had bought some of their products on previous visits. We were pleased that we did as we liked their products and bought quite a few things. We would not have gone there if they had not recommended it as we don't like olives but they have lots of other things and was well worth the visit. The staff did not hover while they left you to taste but were just a call away to help with any queries. Olives were available for tasting as well as dukkah, drizzles etc. We liked and bought the Roasted dukkah, Olive dukkah, Balsamic drizzle, Cabernet drizzle and Lemon infused spritzer. There had information leaflets to take home with ideas for uses. The staff wrapped our bottles in bubble wrap for taking home overseas.

“Decent inclusion on the Hawke's Bay Food Trail”
Reviewed May 16, 2012

We recently spent some time driving around Hawke's Bay seeking out the attractions on the highly promoted Hawke's Bay Food Trail. The Telegraph Hill Olivery, just outside of Hastings, was included on the list, so we popped in for a little visit. This was a cute little olive grove/plantation and processing/retail shop but it was not one of the better tasting experiences we had during this trip.

What we liked was the decor of the tasting area and the large window that allowed us to see staff working with the olives. However, we were a bit disappointed that we were left alone to taste their limited products and were not offered explanation about how olives are grown, oil extracted, how their products were made or even what they were supposed to taste like or be eaten with. We were just left alone and told to try what we liked.

Overall, we didn't find anything that we particularly cared for that much and opted not to buy anything here. However, they might have something that matches others' taste preferences so it might be worth your time to pay visit here. We'll most likely take a pass next time.

Hint: The Salvare Winery, not terribly far from here, has some very nice olive oil and vinegar products that we preferred. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to visit this winery while in the Hawke's Bay area and Hastings area.
