I recently had the pleasure of exploring the top of North Island, using the Bellrock B&B as base: and what a great location. The accomodation was excellant, all brand new with a lot of thought and care taken for the fittings and furnishing of the bed-room in addtion to the oputstanding view across the Bay: the vista took in Waitangi and all the lovely yatchs and boats and crusie ships sailing by.

The lounge was wonderfully furnished with timber and was where we had amazing cooked breakfasts which set us for the days exploring further north; and later was great to sit down and enjoy a beer or wine with the hosts Peter and Lorraine. From there it is a short stroll to the town centre where there are plenty of places to eat and drink.

If you going to go North of Auckland, make this your first stop; it really is special.

I'm an expat Kiwi, and very proud of my country despite living abroad. Over there recently for the rugby world cup and with some overseas mates. I wanted to show them 'the real New Zealand', but not have to go too far from Auckland. We turned up at Bellrock and as soon as we met Peter and Lorraine I knew it was the right decision. The accomadation is brand new via a big renovation, with loads of beautiful old polished wood and really lovely rooms. The views are incredible - we realised we looked directly over the lovely town of Russell, and then across the bay to look right at the lawn and Treaty House where NZ was officially 'born' via signing the Treaty of Waitangi. There are plenty of places to eat (and drink) within a one minute walk. We had the most incredible cooked brekkies, which even us hard core rugby lads found over-matched our appetites! If you intend to go to the Bay of Islands don't miss Bellrock!

Room Tip: All rooms will have a great view

Thoughtfully designed spacious rooms, a gorgeous view, comfortable lounge and hospitality that can't be beat. Peter and Lorraine immediately made us feel welcome and its the little extras like chocolate biscuits and quality local amenities in the room that gave it the extra 'wow' factor. Like the touch of self-catering as well, it gave us the flexibility of eating out some nights but cooking for ourselves on others which is great for a longer stay. We're in the tourism industry and travel often so we know what we talk about when I say there's really nothing I would change. Bellrock will forever hold a special place in our memories as its where we got engaged and Peter and Lorraine were attentive but non-intrusive and really made us feel very special.

Bellrock Lodge is a near-new B&B with great views over Russell Township and the harbour. I really enjoyed my stay there. The accommodation is clean, well appointed, good value for money and only a short walk from town. Peter and Lorraine are gracious hosts and I hope to stay at Bellrock on my next visit to Russell.

The Bellrock B&B was everything we could have wanted and more. With spectacular views, a modern and beautifully appointed room and great breakfasts we had the best time. Our generous and accomodating hosts, Peter and Lorraine, made our holiday even better. True calm and relaxation made our 8 days seem like 2 weeks.
