Description: Multiple Winner of Best Cafe in Nelson. Bright, busy cafe in an historic building in central Nelson. Strong following of loyal locals but plenty to entice visitors as well. The menu changes seasonally and focuses on fresh, natural flavours that build on a number of ethnic cuisine styles. Our breakfasts have a large fan base with favourites like the Bacon & Eggs and our Pancakes staying on the menu year after year. Lunch includes fresh Salad Bowls, tasty Chicken Satay and the ever popular Pad Thai. There's plenty of fresh baking each day, a healthy kids menu and our coffee is excellent. There are lots of options for wheat, gluten & dairy sensitive people and vegetarians as well.

Wentb there on a public holiday and they have the cheek to add on a surcharge. Staff were not interested in serving us and food was pretty average and expensive. This was my second visit there....I gave it a second chance after a bad experience last time.....Give it a miss and get better service and food around the corner at the Columbus Cafe

We have been to Morrison Street Cafe many times over the past few years. When it first opened it was a great cafe and we loved going there. Over the years it has become tired and standards have dropped.
The breakfast menu sounded good with interesting options. The meals came out. They were huge. Everything on the plate was swimming in ridiculous amounts of sauce. Neither of us quite knew where to start. First step, scrape the sauce off so we could see what was actually on the plate. The bacon was fatty and soft. The pieces of ciabatta difficult to eat. The corn fritters had a strange taste of instant stock and were soft and doughy. On the positive side however my eggs were poached nicely and everything on the plate was well seasoned.
The coffee is still good however and we would certainly stop in for a coffee or takeaway.
Nelson needs a great cafe and with a little care and attention Morrison St could gain back its former top cafe status.

I have always loved my meals at Morrison. Even though they are busy most of the time, the service is always pleasant. It is wonderful for lunch and there is a side patio to enjoy the sun. Coffee and pastries are great. I always have to take away their hummus and red pepper capsicum nut pesto - yummy!

The Morrison is an institution: without doubt the best coffee and breakfast / lunch menus in Nelson. We discovered the Morrison in 2000 and it has been our favourite for quality, ambience and service ever since. Experience it yourself and you'll understand why every time we are in town we treat ourselves to a Morrison coffee or lunch. After 12 years of regular patronage, we have found nowhere else in Nelson that comes close. The food, service and cosy, friendly ambience are a delight.
