“Exotic, tranquil, deliciously relaxing!”

If you are wanting a relaxed, theraputic and soothing experience then you should stay at Joya! With the wonderful host Paulina, going that extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and happy, the soothing sounds of water and the beautiful gardens, you couldn't ask for much more! My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful wedding in the Joya gardens with a small group of family and friends. It was the most perfect day and the setting made it all the more enjoyable and relaxing!

We had our expectations exceeded at Joya. The studio had books and magazines, beautiful decks with comfortable lounge suites, and Pauline made a special effort to make our 3 year old happy with toys and books etc. We look forward to going back one day.

We travel a lot (my wife and I and 14 year old son) and this has to rate as the best bed and breakfast that we have ever stayed in. Exceptionally nice location (surrounded by parks and large villas on a hillside), we stayed in the separate unit with it's own large fish-pond and garden and plum tree ..., absolute peace and quiet, the owner/manager is a wonderfully helpful and exceptionally interesting lady, and the breakfast out of this world.
Our friends stayed in a room in the large villa, and absolutely loved it.
5 to 10 minutes walk to downtown and markets.
Thank-you.

Discovered Queens Park in Nelson on this visit - lovely park with waterway and sculpture and small walkway bridge and a number of large Redwoods and other very interesting trees excellent for children to climb in to (I am not usually a tree enthusiast but these were exceptional.

Nelson Sunday markets were great.

And of course the pinnacle was the Abel Tasman track and all of those glorious beaches with their golden sand. DOC huts superb, especially the old restored home at the top of the track.

The weather over most of the country was unusually marginal at it's best for our ten days, but as usual Nelson and Golden Bay turned on it's charm and the sun shone nearly the whole time.

Cheers, David and Merilyn and Blake Mallowes

We spent 15 days at Joya in the private Villa Studio and felt as if we were coming home every night we returned from a day's activities. When we didn't go out we just sat on the private veranda listening to the lambs in the distance or the songs from the great variety of birds that frequented the beautiful garden. Just the peace we needed after visiting from Mexico City and, within a day, we were very relaxed.

Some friend's had recently stayed in the slighter larger Garden Studio, which is an independent "casita" a little further down the garden with private veranda in front of a pond. They also had a great stay and enjoyed the peace and privacy there as well.

Both studios have their own facilities - kitchenettes with fridges and small ovens, bathroom, lounge and bedroom areas which is ideal if you are staying a while and want some independence. We made our own breakfasts but they are available in the main house if required with a stunning choice. There are also some other smaller rooms available for rent in the main house.

Most of all Paulina was an excellent host and made us feel at home straight away. She advised us about the many local facilities and even drove us to the airport when we nipped over to Wellington for a short trip.

Joya also offers a clothes washing service which we used regulary, sometimes ironing was done for us ironing and sometimes we did it ourselves in the ironing room at the side of the house. And for those who cannot live without contact with the outside world there is there is wired (not wireless) internet in every room which was a perfect solution for us and helped us keep an eye on our business in Mexico with our netbook.

The location for us was excellent and in a beautiful part of town with stunning houses and close to Fairfield Park. Only 15 minutes from the airport, a five minute walk from our neice's house where she was holding her wedding and a 15 minute downhill walk into town - a charming place with an excellent array of shops and restaurants as well great Saturday and mid-week markets. Good, well stocked supermarkets also in town. The whole place just oused a welcome.

We walked and taxied around for the first week then hired a car for the second week to visit the area including the Nelson Lakes, Abel Tasman, local vineyards, artistic tour and the wonderful scenic route to Picton. Nelson was an excellent base camp to visit the whole area.

This was our first visit to New Zealand but we had an incredible time and will definitely stay with Paulina at Joya when we visit Nelson again.

Joya B&B is one of the best deals in Nelson. We have stayed there several times over the years and the quality is consistent. Tastefully furnished rooms, beautiful tranquil gardens with pond, tasty & healthy breakfast, very friendly & helpful host, walking distance do down town and a fair price make this our Nr. 1 choice when traveling to Nelson.

This B&B with a view of Nelson is beautifully landscaped with a waterfall and stream through the property and many exotic plants as well as a kitchen garden. The hostess is quite helpful, interesting, and artistic. She accommodated my many dietary restrictions perfectly, and went beyond, for breakfasts. I enjoyed getting to know her and about the Tomatis Method she uses to help autistic people. The villa studio was comfortable, with all the amenities I needed, including a kitchenette. Good value!

I stayed in the Garden Studio which is a lovely accommodation in a quiet neighbourhood in the city. The building is separate from the main home and very private. I really enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the gorgeous water garden.

Paulina is a very friendly host who also provides listening sessions based on the work of Alfred Tomatis. Her assessments are thorough and accurate and she is able to create personalized sessions that will most benefit individual needs.

I really enjoyed my stay. Thank you
